    Cubs willing to trade Prior

ESPN - Rival executives: Cubs are willing to trade Prior - MLB

I think this is a great idea, but I don't see them getting a lot in return for a fragile starting pitcher that has never been able to fully recover from injuries.

Wonder what has transpired lately. Seems like the last few months they were chomping at the bit to get him on the mound and throwing again. Pehaps his sessions aren't going well, or soon enough, or at all?

I like Prior and think he's getting a little of a raw deal. A handful of his injuries were freak accidents, and not chronic problems (the collision running to second and the hit ball off the elbow). But he has to get on the mound.

What I still would like answered from the organization is why he was on the shelf most all of '06, did apparently nothing in the off season, then all of sudden needs surgery last April that shelved him again for '07? Why was going on Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar?

Re: Cubs willing to trade Prior

It's really sad. I did keep an eye on the Cubs and these twoo (Prior and Wood). They had it going and could've had it all if they just could have stayed healthy.

Cubs management continued to believe these two would get healthy, putting all the eggs in their basket - these guys just couldn't do it.

I can't imagine they'll get much for him.

If I were a GM, I'd trade Prior for this guy straight up. They are equals in the durability department.

That deal they could have done a few years ago (Prior for Miguel Tejada) is looking pretty decent these days.

But not nearly as good as a trade for the Red X. That X has one heck of a slider.

If there was ever a guy who needed a change of scenery (and a new arm), it's Mark Prior.
