What's lost in the block/charge melee

Was how freaking strong Will took that shot to the board with two guys just hammering on him.

Cherrycheeks sliding under for a charge call shouldn't take away from a major league play like that.

Re: What's lost in the block/charge melee

Agreed. He was also fouled before the "call". It was a bad call in so many ways when instead Will should have not only been awarded 2 points and a chance at a +1, but he should have got rewarded with all the media attention by making a big big big time play at a pivotal point in the game. Could have affected his draft status, other ISU players draft status/pro-ball status by removing them from a potential Final Four appearance. That play hurt ISU and it's players in so many ways, including $.

The announcers were certainly impressed with Will. I wouldn't give back some of our one year players, but it does feel weird just getting to know their games and appreciating them and then they're done.

Re: What's lost in the block/charge melee

My wife mentioned to me that if the foul was called a blocking foul that Rosey Cheeks would have fouled out. Did he have 4 fouls before that?

The folks that know basketball, know what Will is capable of. That is one thing I don't worry about, they are smart enough to see through the calls.

No...he ended the game with 3 fouls so that would have only made it 4 on him. smith and scott were the only osu players with 4

Re: What's lost in the block/charge melee

I agree I watched my DVR over and over and DeShaun Thomas actually fouls him on the arm PRIOR to the block/charge call.

Sucks the ref couldn't have met in the middle by saying charge on Clyburn but bucket counts.

Also guess who Craft left open to take the charge....only the nations leading 3pt %. McGee was wide open on the wing calling for the ball but you can't fault Will when there is an alley to the basket.

The season of what ifs and what could have been. Ugh so close!!!!

Re: What's lost in the block/charge melee

I thought what has been lost is that defensive rebound that went out of bounds and was given to Ohio State. I only got to see one replay, but I swear it went off Ohio State. That set them up for that final shot.

Thanks, I didn't think so but I didn't want to call her wrong for actually caring about the game as much as she did

$5 million towards ISU if they would have won - merchandise sales, $$$ from the NCAA, ISU exposure, recruits for all sports, TV, and the CYCLONE name on the west coast!!!!

Actually, from the vantage point of the ISU section, it looked like they might count the basket and call the charge after the basket.

And I hate that you just gave me another reason (McGee was open) to feel bad about the end of the game.

The Thomas hack could have been whistled, but the Craft deal was officiating 101. Feet must be set to call the charge. They weren't. It wasn't a bang-bang, and it wasn't that difficult to see. It was an official who lost his spine in the heat of the moment.
