    What Could Have Been?

We may have just missed out on a program changing win, and a realistic shot at a final four. Arizona would have been tough, and sure we may have came back down to earth soon, but this team had the talent. With the west in shambles, maybe we get some favorably called games for a change.

    This one really hurts.

    Re: What Could Have Been?

We had a great shot and damn near pulled it off, if we get to the tournament every year we have a shot to the Final Four and will be there someday sooner than later. If we get there we will win the whole damn thing.

Given that we've had a few dozen program changing wins over the last few seasons, this one game doesn't bother me too much.

    Re: What Could Have Been?

Best not to think about it. Arizona would have been a tough out. :)

I am confident there will be more program changers in our future. And I know that these 6 seniors and the guys in the classes before them did a hell of a lot for this program. They shouldn't have any regrets.

I think "what ifs" are legit in yet another case where multiple
50/50 calls all go against us. I foolishly thought all the lousy
last minute regular season calls would set us up for a critical
    one today. Silly me.
For what it's worth, we're getting tons of national press for playing
well but not being able to buy a call.
    Gotta love those Clones

Iowa State has looked so freaking good on national TV this year. The nation has noticed that we are a good team. It's too bad 2 of those ended up being tough losses, but we still looked good.

This is how 67 teams end the tournament.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

    Re: What Could Have Been?

I was going to reply with something like "Ask not what could have been, but what will be."

And then I realized that hawks have been using lines like that for several years when talking about their basketball program.

That's true, but we have reasons to say it :)

I guess we could be 3 wins away from our very own NIT title too.

Definitely true -- biggest stages nationally, Big Monday and this Round-of-32, played well, took it to the wire. It's better than getting embarrassed.

That's one step -- additional step is to get over the top, not always, but frequently.

Royce could have stayed instead of flaking out...

Unfortunately this type of press is quickly forgotten, especially with other big games to come next weekend.

If we want the real press were gunna have to win one of these games.....and we will!!!

Same could be said about last year's team.

We really need to get out of playing a #1 or #2 seed in their backyard.
