I've never felt so good after a loss

A lot of threads out there. I felt I should get my own thoughts out there.

Let us look where this program is headed. The success is coming at an exponential rate. Look how we have performed in the last two trips to the dance. Look where we were 3 years ago. It was a tough loss today, one we have seen too much of this whole season. But we were down 13 and what did we do? We put ourselves in a position to win against one of the hottest teams in the tourney, a 2 seed that won the nation's toughest conference tourney, and one of the best defenses in country. It was the second highest point total tOSU has given up(the highest being against Indiana). A lot of things to take away and be proud.

And looking to the future, I couldn't possibly be more confidence in Hoiberg. Folks will look at what all we will miss next season(Lucious, Clyburn, Tyrus, Babb etc) and proceed to count us out. But look at what we did this season when lost Royce, Scotty and Allen. Our 3 leading scorers. And what did we do? We became an even bigger offensive threat.

If Hoiberg can figure out the defensive side of the ball, we wont just be looking at competing for the big 12 title, we'll be looking to cut down the nets in the biggest game of them all in the coming years. That has me excited.

Re: I've never felt so good after a loss

Great post. I remember last year at this time we were all nervous as we were loosing so much...and we CFH showed he can adjust.

Love the winning attitude and teamwork our team is developing.

Wonder if we will be picked 8-10th again next pre-season?

I'm sorry... Can't feel good about any loss.

This one ranks up there with 2000 Michigan state on my list.

Re: I've never felt so good after a loss

The big picture through this season, combined with last, is that Hilton Magic is being restored. People are about as much, if not more excited to watch ISU be successful at a major collegiate sport than ever. We may be losing some key pieces after this year, but this senior class put forward a great show and fantastic effort. CFH is building an arsenal of talent that will last us for several years and should have everyone excited about the future of ISU MBB.

    Thank you!

Re: I've never felt so good after a loss

I felt better after the Kentucky game last year. That felt like we lost to the best college basketball team in years.

This felt like we should have won. Proud of the guys, but that ended was painful.

VERY VERY excited about the fu

Re: I've never felt so good after a loss

Thing that makes me a little less optimistic is that this was considered by many a "down year" for the Big 12. This was our year to make a splash. Add in the fact that we lose 5 key players and I just don't know what to think about the future. I have complete faith in Fred, but I can't help but think next year will be a down year for us. Hope I'm wrong.

Re: I've never felt so good after a loss

Difference is next year were not bringing in division 1 experienced players. We're gunna have to rely on some freshman.

Possibly more talent, but may be rough at times.

Re: I've never felt so good after a loss

Not to mention we were in a position to win without our lockdown defending, 3 point crushing, senior 2 guard because of an injury. If we can rally under the circumstances we faced today then it's clear that everyone is bought into what Hoiberg is selling. Baby steps.

Re: I've never felt so good after a loss

I feel good about the program.

But I feel so bad for those guys that brought Iowa State back. They were so close to playing another weekend.

Chris and Will and Korie and Tyrus and Anthony were really fun to watch for 2 years. I am sad that I don't get to see them again.

Re: I've never felt so good after a loss

The good is ISU basketball is back. Yes next years team is young but they have a few great players to build around.

The exposure ISU basketball has got since the KU game at Hilton is priceless. The whole basketball world saw ISU play to outstanding games vs 2 of the biggest names in the NCAA this year.

Last ISU in not playing in the NIT.
