encouraging stats for the ohio st game.

top 4 defenses in big 12 (+ND) and how many we scored against them:

    kansas (61.3) 79, 90, 73 (in regulation)
    k-state (60.4) 73, 70
    TCU (62.6) 63, 87
    Okie St. (63) 76, 87
    ND (63.1) 76

Average defensive ppg for top 4 big 12 teams + ND = 61.72
Average PPG ISU scored against those teams = 77.4

    Ohio St. DPPG (59.5)

Ohio St. only scored over 70pts in regulation 6 times against B1G teams + Iona. Two of those 6 were against nebraska and one against the 5th place team in the MAAC, Iona (Iona gave up 70+ points in 24 of 33 games, not exactly a defensive juggernaut).

if we can get to 70, I think we come away with a win. we have scored 70+ points in 16 of the past 20 games. only 4 games to not score 70:

    L @ Oklahoma 69pts
    L @ TTU 51pts
    W @ TCu 63pts
    W vs. WVU 69

maybe i should have set the bar at 69pts. yes, if we reach 69 pts. we win. mark it.

The only B12 defenses close to OSU are KU and OK St. Both are top 20 defenses (KU is 6th and Ok St is 14th). No one else in the B12 is top 60 in the nation. ND was 88th in the country, Ohio St is 7th.

of course if you take out TCU, we are only 4-4 against the other teams...but let's concentrate on the positive.

big 12 is also and offensive conference and b1g is a defensive conference (primarily) so that would skew the defensive vs offensive stats for all teams mentioned as well.

I've noticed more the defensive minded teams are getting bounced in the tourney.

Those are tempo free stats, that's the best way to measure a team's true defensive, and offensive, ability. Do you really think TCU is the third best defensive team in the B12?

Kansas couldn't stop us. Ohio State won't, either.

That's my deep analysis. It really does come down to whether we get any stops. If we get some, it's over for Ohio State. If we don't, it was a fun season.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

That is true. The offensive teams are figuring out how to win.

I'll go with that. I think getting stops means not giving up too many buckets off turnovers. Make these guys shoot the rock and we win.

Barkley made a good point when he said that some of these coaches need to take some time from defense and coach some offense. I think that was Barkley anyway and I think it was in reference to Georgetown.

    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.
