    Butler using advanced statistics

Really interesting article from SI about Butler using a recent college grad and advanced statistics to help Brad Stevens. I think this is the future of college basketball.

CF's own cyismydog is on the staff at Butler, isn't he?

    Re: Butler using advanced statistics

"Cannon had been writing articles for Ken Pomeroy, founder of KenPom.com, before getting hired by Butler this summer. Pomeroy is the bellwether of the college basketball statistical movement, with his tempo free statistics merging into the mainstream conversation of college basketball the past few years. He's achieved enough success where he began charging a subscription fee for his site and left his day job as a meteorologist to work on the site full-time. He also has a small consulting deal with Iowa State, which pays him $2,500 a year."

    Love this stuff.

We use advanced stats as well: Men

TJ seems to be in charge of it: Randy Peterson: How one Iowa State assistant's value expands well beyond recruiting | The Des Moines Register | desmoinesregister.com

Great article on the Toronto Raptors using tracking cameras (they are becoming common in the NBA): The Toronto Raptors, SportVU cameras, and the NBA's analytical revolution - Grantland

I read that article in the Trib....glad we are using it...but not at all surprised.

I also have heard about the NBA tracking system....that is VERY interesting as the real time data is great (and the stats are not conventional). We need to find a donor to add that to hilton. :)
