    Pick your poison

EDIT - All these are in assumption of giving ISU the best chance of winning the game. It is pickicking what one positive occurance will out weigh a negitive occurance and give ISU the edge over ND. Example below KL's great game will be more of a factor in deciding the game than a poor game by ME & Winning the Boards will be more of a factor than turnover margin.

Pick your ideal scenario for ISU's 2nd round game with ND on Friday that will most likely lead to and ISU Victory.......

Who (1 ISU player) plays great: _____________________
Who (1 ISU player) plays poorly:_____________________
    ISU Wins Key Stat:_____________________________
    ISU Loses Key Stat:____________________________
Who (1 ISU player) unsung hero: _________________

    My Picks:

KL needs a great game on both ends of the court to put ISU in a good spot
Edge can have a poor offensive night
ISU needs to win battle of the boards
ISU can lose the turnover margin if it isn't by too much and still win
Gibson give solid minutes off the bench and rebounds well

    Re: Pick your poison

Lucious plays great (you convinced me)
    McGee plays poorly
Win foul trouble difference in the post
    Lose turnover
Booker is a monster on defense.

(Not an ideal scenario, but a winning one and I don't think McGee will play poorly. Turnovers aren't great but if we win the other areas, they are more expendable.)

#1 Key: Shoot lights out. This team has shown decent defense at times, but they don't do it consistently. We are going to need to put up a good amount of points.

Who (1 ISU player) plays great: Clyburn - Will playing great usually bodes well for ISU
Who (1 ISU player) plays poorly: Ellerman - Tyler just can't buy a basket in garbage time
    ISU Wins Key Stat: Rebounding
ISU Loses Key Stat: Points in the Paint
Who (1 ISU player) unsung hero: Booker - Anthony blocks, rebounds and scores when he has the opportunity but most importantly plays great D on Cooley even drawing one of two early Cooley charges.

I think Booker having a good game is more important than Gibson. Booker will be the first big sub in and he can shoot the three to keep the middle open.

That is a good point about Booker's range. If he's able to knock 1 or even 2 of those down Friday night those are huge bonus points for ISU.

What is even more important than the points is what it does to ND's defensive scheme. They will have to respect him on the perimeter just like they will have to respect Mel and Georges which brings their post defenders out of the paint.

Do you guys think Will will have any troubles getting a penitration looks given their size? Kansas's size seemed to shut Will down pretty well in the Big 12 Tourney last week.

    Re: Pick your poison

Half of the replies have the "ISU Loses Key Stat" as this is the key stat that leads to an ISU loss. The other half are answering it as a key stat that ISU ends up short on as you seem to have responded on your own scenario - this is our ideal scenario, afterall.

Please edit your OP to clarify.

I took it as a stat we could lose but still win the game. It is an interesting exercise as obviously I don't want to see the shortcomings that I posted, but I think we might be able to get away with them.

Only need to fill out one line. Georges has to play great (and stay out of foul trouble) or we don't win.
