I firmly believe continuous 20+ win seasons, and always NCAA Tournament bound!

Next year's team is going to be really young at vital positions. I can't help but think they are going to take a step back next year and then explode in 2014/15.

I think my new expectation is that we win double digit conference games every year.

Didn't Dominque Buckley get runner up Michigan Mr. Basketball, not play much and then transferred? Morris has a lot more hype, but I am just getting use to not expecting anything. Especially out of freshmen. Although Niang surprised the heck out of me.

Re: What will Fred's 2013 - 2014 team look like next year?

    Starting Lineup
    -----------------
    Morris (conference season starter)
    Thomas
    Hogue
    Ejim
    Niang
    -----------
    Amardi
    Gibson
    Palo
    Bluford
    Okoro
    SDW
    Edozie
    Long

I like the depth, think SDW will be better than people think. Thinking NIT preseason prediction. If Edozie or Amardi are the real deal then NCAA's.

Re: What will Fred's 2013 - 2014 team look like next year?

Unfortunately I see our season kind of dropping off a bit. Kind of like an Iowa team. We will be incredibly young and untested. Georges and Ejim will be huge but I'm not sure if they can carry us to a NCAA berth.

I think we're able to compete w/ anyone, but I see a lot of close losses with not knowing how to finish ball games.

The big 12 as a whole loses a lot, so maybe we are able to sneak a NCAA Berth in. I wish we had Ejim for 2 more years. 2-3 years from now has me crazy excited

I'm very confident that Monte Morris starts from the git go and adjusts very quickly. The kid is going to be outstanding.

I'm hoping for .500 in conference but not expecting a sniff of the tourney. Youth and another influx of potential starters will have some growing pains.

I don't know if Buckley was runner-up or not, but I can tell you the other guys that Morris beat out for the award are much better than Buckley was up against. Walton is a big time recruit going to Michigan and Young is a McDonalds all-american. Buckley wasn't much of a scorer in HS either, more of just a QB type, managed the game well, where Morris has shown the ability to do it all and he's also been really impressive at the AAU camps against the best competition in the country. If he's strong enough(physically) I'm sure he'll start at some point his freshman year. My gut tells me Bubu will start the first few games, ala Booker over Niang to start this year.

Re: What will Fred's 2013 - 2014 team look like next year?

Fred likes his 8-man rotations, it'll be settled into that by conference season

    Starters:
    PG: Morris
    SG: Thomas
    SF: Hogue/SDW/Bluford
    PF: Ejim
    C: Niang

    Bench: Bubu/Naz
    Bench: Hogue/SDW/Bluford
    Bench: Gibson/Amardi/Edozie

    Things to watch for:
-Slight chance that Gibson or Amardi start at C and Ejim moves to the 3.
-A new take on the "Rolls Royce" offense centered around Niang. Not that he'll bring the ball up the court, but the offense will run through Georges, I predict we see a lot of handoff screens again on the wing.
    - what the JUCOs bring. Hogue/Bluford/Amardi/Edozie all come in as one-dimensional role players. Will any of them be a surprise and fill out as a complete player who can start?

    Keys to the season:
    - Are the backcourt freshman mature enough to take us to the tourney? They are both high basketball IQ kids, but they are still freshman.
    - Can Percy make a leap? It would be huge if Percy could play 15-20 big minutes a game next year. Fred said recently he expects Percy to start, but I don't see it right now.
    - Can Ejim play the 3? Fred likes his mismatches, and Ejim's rebounding from the 3 position would be a huge mismatch.

Re: What will Fred's 2013 - 2014 team look like next year?

I think we'll have a solid line with Niang, Ejim and Hogue. I don't really see how Thomas can disappoint...the kid is a terrific shooter and is walking into the perfect situation to shine. If SDW is as good as advertised and we have someone step up to provide solid minutes at point I don't see us taking a step back. I think people tend to forget SDW was a top 125 player out of high school. We won't have much experience at guard but we lost a lot of close games with 5th year senior guards this year...
