    Newer Tournament Television Format Discussion

What is everyone's thoughts on our newer format that I believe we've had for a couple years now where every game is available to watch live in the NCAA tournament (spread throughout CBS, TruTV, TNT, TBS) verses the old formate where CBS chooses your game you watch and somewhat jumps you around? I, for one absolutely love the new format.

However, the only thing I do miss some is the little bit of jumping around to different games I believe I remember seeing with the old CBS format. Therefore, I had this idea. Wouldn't it be sweet if Turner Sports Networks added a fifth channel which broadcasts games only within the first weekend, and is purely devoted to jumping around to hot spots in different games (NFL Redzone style). I think this would be pretty sweet. I know I'd watch that channel when there wasn't a particular game I really had to watch. In fact, I'd probably watch that channel most overall. Shoot, Turner has lots of other stations which they could pull this off with like HLN, CNN International, TCN, Cartoon Network, Boomerang. Anyways, just a thought. Would anyone else like this idea too?

A whip-around channel would be good. Though there's always another option- set up multiple tvs.

Though ive been used to the 4 game format for awhile as for a long time i used to watch at someone's place that just happened to have DTV and the march madness pack that got you additional channels to watch all games.

It would be even better if they offered a sports mix type of channel that had the selected game taking up 2/3 of the screen and then little pics of the other channels. You could then select which game you wanted in the big window (along with the corresponding audio). That way you could keep tabs on the other games and scores and switch when you want to switch.

Re: Newer Tournament Television Format Discussion

I also forgot to mention how much I love the fact that you can watch all the games online on your computer, Ipad, and smartphone as well, providing you have access. I've already downloaded this year's app on my phone and I can already tell it will be pretty sweet. I believe I remember getting a code last year from Coca Cola (something like that) where you could get free access to watch the games. This year, it seems more limited, where you have to have a TV subscription with the Turner channels in order to get online access. To do this, they force you to login through your television provider.

For those with mediacom, are you able to log in with your normal account info or do you have to set up a mediacom email?

I loved this format until I realized that one of the channels will require me to upgrade my channel package to get it. Really why TruTv? For Dish you apparently need the 200+ package. Is this the same for Dtv and cable, or is this just a Dish thing?

The new format is the best thing that ever happened to this tournament.

I love the new format especially because it will show you the score and time remaining of all the other games going on at the same time. So you can be watching a game on CBS and see that some 14 seed is tied with a 3 with thirty seconds left on TBS and change the channel.

I've never done it with Mediacom, but for DirectTV, you just login with your normal account username and password you would use at their website to access your account info and billing. You access similar programs the same way through your TV provider like WatchESPN or Big102Go.

New "format" rocks. A sports mix channel with 1 big and 3 small (or half/half) would be nice - but I'm not complaining about what we have now. Much better.

Especially the addition of 4G. When I'm using WatchESPN on my phone, there is a BIIIGGGGGG difference between watching a game in 4G vs watching a game in 3G. The 4G is nearly as good as watching it on your wifi at home. I imagine it will be the same with the March Madness app. Lets just say that the invention of 4G and online game watch apps have already made a lot of my shopping trips with my wife MUCH more bearable.

Exactly my opinion too. BTW this will be the third year they offered this format. I hope it never goes away.

Completely agree. You can do your own moving around to the other games whenever you want to. No longer at the mercy of what some producer in New York City thinks we all want to see. It used to be very frustrating when CBS would switch from a game you were into to show a different one.

The online setup is pretty sweet too (I've got online access again with Mediacom). I have my projector up and you can have 4 games up and running at the same time. With it being projected, they are good sized and still in HD. All you have to do is click to get sound from that particular game
