148 Teams Now Play In Post Season Tournaments

    NCAA (68), NIT (32), CBI (16), College Insider (32).

Seems like we're approaching the Football Bowl game percentage here.

Besides, the CBI and the college insider tournaments are still for the smaller teams who had good season but didn't make it into the tournament because they're 1 team leagues. Out of those two tournaments only two teams (Texas and Purdue) came from the "major" conferences. It's much different than the bowl games where you have .500 teams getting in very often

Re: 148 Teams Now Play In Post Season Tournaments

People get worked up too much about this. The players all work hard and most teams in these have had pretty decent seasons but just didn't make the NCAA's because they aren't quite good enough. Doesn't mean they shouldn't get to still play. It's not like they they'll work less hard because they can make the CBI instead of the NCAA

Re: 148 Teams Now Play In Post Season Tournaments

Just like the bowls.. who cares. If you dont like it dont watch. I wont watch much if any of the NIT.

Doesnt affect you if some team that you didnt think was good enough plays in a minor tournament, just like it doesnt really affect you if some bad football team is playing in some bad bowl. Everyone knows the heirarchy of these things, with the bowls (BCS being the top and then certain bowls having more prestige than others) and the tournaments (NCAA>*)

I could care less if there are the other tourneys. NCAA is all that matters.

Re: 148 Teams Now Play In Post Season Tournaments

I'm ok with this. Gives the players some more games to develop in a competitive atmosphere. Outside the NCAA tourney, the other ones get little to no coverage (outside of local tie ins).

Heck, even the NIT.....cool chance for players to play at Madison Square Garden if nothing else (and get some more home games).

Re: 148 Teams Now Play In Post Season Tournaments

The NCAA and NIT are the only two tournaments that matter because they are the only two that are televised nationally with teams that have good records and that deserve to be playing. The other two tourneys aren't on TV and have some teams with .500 records, similar to 6-6 or 7-5 bowl games that are terrible and that shouldn't be playing.
