    Buckeye here ..

Great site you have here. A lot of traffic which has given me good reading this morning (yes I cant focus on work).

I don't know much about iowa state or notre dame so I am being nosey and seeing what I can learn.

Right or wrong, I am looking past Iona and I am not sure who I rather play (you or ND). Seems Notre Dame is less dangerous then the Cyclones and I am sure you each would agree.

Hopefully you dont mind a Buckeye hanging out on your site.

Any info about your team would be appreciated.

Welcome! We shoot threes. If threes are falling, we can beat anyone... If threes aren't falling, we can get beat by anyone... Our head coach is dreamy... Good luck in the tourney! (Unless we play you, of course )

To be honest, as an ISU fan, I want Iona to win that game for 2 reasons. 1) Former ISU player Tavon Sledge is on the team & 2) I don't want ISU to have ANY PART of that OSU game if we beat Notre Dame. OSU has looked absolutely DANGEROUS lately with Craft at the helm.
As long as you are respectful, you are always welcome. If you turn into a KU fan, it's banhammer.

I would like some info on your conference. What do you really think about Wisky and MSU?

If you feel confident against the three, you probably prefer playing us. If you don't, then you're an Irish fan.

We like to shoot it and we are not particularly fond of defense. The trouble I could see ISU giving you is negating Crafts defense by moving Clyburn to the point. We are also undersized. The style is probably similar to Michigan but scoring is more spread out and our PG isn't the best in the country.

    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.

We are an odd team because we are long and athletic so we should be good against 3's ...however we seem to struggle and a couple of our losses is because we couldnt close or find the 3 point shooter.

With that said your main 3 point shooter will be taken away since Craft takes one opposing player out of each game so you will need others to step up and hit the shot.

From what I have read about your team, the 3 point thing scares me.

This. I've seen Craft play a couple of times lately and I have a feeling he would eat Lucious' lunch.

    If we're on, that isn't a problem.

    Re: Buckeye here ..

Welcome! I don't think you should have to worry too much about looking past Iona, but as ISU fans know all too painfully, a #15 can definitely knock of a #2 (Thank goodness for Missouri & Duke last year so ISU is no longer the last team to lose as a #2).

OSU is definitely getting hot at the right time of the year - congrats on the BIG Tourney Championship, you guys look really tough - hopefully we'll be the team with a shot at OSU.

ISU is a very good scoring team, we space the floor very well and all five starters are very good at shooting the 3 - so our opponents can't just focus on one shooter. I think we led the country in 3-point shooting.

The problem is that if we don't have a good shooting night, our defense is not consistent enough and we're in trouble. We're also undersized, and a little vulnerable down low.

ISU is the classic: "We can beat anybody on a good night, but can also lose to anybody on an off night" kind of team.

Depends on your feelings about Iowa.

    Re: Buckeye here ..

Welcome to the site. Everyone in our starting 5 can and will take shots from the three if open. If we are hitting the shots, we can play with anyone, if not, it can start to get ugly, our defense is improving, but it is our weakness.

That's just it. We don't have a main 3 point shooter. Any of our 5 starters can knock down the three, and our 6th man is one of the best in the country from 3.

    Re: Buckeye here ..

ISU - most players have the liberty to take the 3 at any time. Sometimes this is not good, but when clicking we can be very dangerous. We spread the floor but not always for the 3 as sometimes this allows for our bigs to have room to operate (Niang versus KU in our 2 regular season games. To this Cyclone, we did not go to this as much in the conference tourney game). Our rebounding looks pretty good if you look at our numbers, but keep in mind by spreading the court & shooting a lot of 3's, the rebounds go long & we have good athletes to go & track down those misses rather than having big bodies blocking out & clamping down the misses.

Notre Dame - I think has some similarity to Wisconsin - although their bigs do not go out to the perimeter on offense. They are a deliberate team with plenty of size, but will shoot the 3 when presented.

Give me Motta over most any B1G coach any day. Liked him since Xavier. Only thing probably worrying Buckeye fans is thinking there may be a letdown from winning the conference tourney. Shouldn't happen, though, beings the games are in Dayton.

    Re: Buckeye here ..

ISU is a team that wants to speed up the game but not to excess. Fred allows players to shoot early in the clock and every player on the floor hasn't seen a transition look they did not like. The game plan is usually pretty simple.... ISU is going to put up a lot of shots and try to make the game a shooting contest. If ISU can either #1 put up more shots than you or #2 trade 3's for 2's all day its going to tough on the other team.

The floor will be spread out the whole game and rebounds will be long and wild requiring guards to really get after it on the glass.
