Re: Houston Nutt Done at Arkansas

Wow, his record over the last 2 years is not too shabby at all in a highly competitive SEC. Recruited well. Maybe they had the talent to win a game or two more this year but 8-4 in the SEC is nothing to get fired over, especially coming off the season they had last year. It's not like Arkansas is a top 5 football program where they should expect a national championship every year.

This guy is getting fired over his season and Kirkie (6-6, 19-18 over the last 3 years, $500K per win) is rumored to be getting a top notch Little 11 job. Big 10 = DUMB

I think this one has more to do with stuff off of the field, rather than on it.

Re: Houston Nutt Done at Arkansas

Isn't Houston Nutt very much disliked by most Arkansas fans? That probably played a big part in it.

Maybe he was dismissed so Arkansas could better compete for Ferentz?

If Nebraska is trying to get back to their traditional power running, why would they hire someone other than him?

They need to be working on him as soon as possible before he leaves for UM or GT, is Baylor still looking for a coach?

Bingo! This has nothing to do with anything happening on the field and everything happening off the field. The fan base split when the black cloud started to form over the football program due to the Springdale fiasco. From there it only escalated. There was no way he could reunite the fan base (evident by the "Houston we have a problem" and "Houston you ARE the problem" signs that emerged during a national broadcast) so he bolted.

I think there's something extremely suspicious with his departure but that's just my gut feeling. Bottom line, he's not all the class coach that a couple of others on here think he is.

His leaving was best for both parties involved.
