    ISU Freshman Scoring Leaders

    Per MBB Twitter account, leading ISU freshman scorers:

    1. Stinson 534
    2. Fizer 447
    3. Michalik 427
    4. Hoiberg 410
    5. Grayer 402
    6. Niang 395

    Kind of puts Stinson's freshman year in perspective. He seems to get overlooked for what he accomplished. This includes NCAA tournament games. Niang could pass his coach.

    Niang did not play much in non conference and he has seen lots of foul trouble. He might have passed 500 otherwise. He started two thirds of the games and averaged 24 minutes a game.

    I think when a "big" can score very well as a freshman, it's a big deal. Tougher to step in down low as a true freshman and produce.

    Niang scores alot from the outside, so he is more a flex player than a true big. Fizer's numbers are very impressive because he did exclusively work with his back to the basket.

    Niang shoots 51% overall and 39% for threes and 70% for f-throws. He does not block for many shots.

    And Fizer was already the focal point of the offense. Nothing against Georges but he's got scorers around him and plays in a much more offense friendly system under Fred than Fizer did Floyd.

    Stinson gets overlooked because he had incredible raw talent, but didn't develop it the way he could have and therefore ended up underachieving. He was still really good, but not neary as good as he could have been.
