***Way to Early 2014 Big XII Predictions***

I know its unbelievably early, but Im looking ahead to next years conference. Though Iowa State is expected to have a down year (probably Hoibergs least talented team, maybe a push with his first team,) I think the entire Big XII will be down next year. Anyhow, I was wondering what everyone thought the standings would look like NEXT year. Yes, its way to early to tell, but with how teams are set up now, what do you think the Big XII final standings will look like?

*I based starters off of their final game lineup, not their start of the year lineup.

    1. Kansas State
They lose 2 starters. McGruder is irreplaceable, but Henriquez will be replaced by one of there fabulous 3 forwards that come off the bench. This will be there last year on top, however, because Bruce Weber will fall apart due to bad recruiting.

    2. Kansas
They lose 4 starters, not including McLemore. If McLemore is gone, they will have an entirely new starting crew next year. If McLemore goes, no way Kansas wins the Big XII. They have a great class coming in and some GREAT players off the bench. Due to young talent and the Bill Self on his knees, I am putting them at #2.

    3. Oklahoma State
These guys only lose one starter, but have the potential to lose 3 players in the draft. Brown and Smart will likely go (hopefully Nash, too) If all three stay, they will finish on top. They have the second best recruit class in the conference and though the loss of a few underclassmen may hurt, Ford will make it work.

    4. Iowa State
They will lose 3 starters, however their 2 remaining starters will carry next years team Niang is possibly the greatest Freshman team leader in the country, and Ejim led the league in rebounds. They have the fourth best recruit class in the conference, and I believe Hoiberg has 1 or 2 more roster moves up his sleeve to improve this team.

    5. Texas
The talent is definitely there. Probably only lose Kabongo as a starter. Their young freshman this year could do big things for them next year. If Texas loses Rick Barnes, they could be great next year.

    6. West Virginia
Lose two starters but both are replaceable. Their top 3 bench players are returning. Have the 5th best recruiting class in the Big XII. They are finally on the rise and Huggins wont be so cranky next year but he wont be tournament bound either. Give them two years and look out.

    7. Baylor
Losing Walton hurts. Losing Austin to the draft kills. And losing Pierre Jackson because he is a senior is the urination in Scott Drews coffee the whole country wants to take part in. They have the third best recruiting class in the nation. Losing 3 starters will hurt them but their two big-time recruits will help pick them up. Scott Drew will knock them back down.

    8. Texas Tech
They only lose Ty Nurse, but he isnt that big of a loss for this team. They only lose 73 of the 2,015 points they scored this year. They have no recruits coming in as of yet. But lack of talent keeps them down.

    9. Oklahoma
Lose 3 starters and dont have too much to replace them. Cam Clark coming off the bench could be huge, but his numbers as a Junior are much worse than they were as a Freshman.

    10. TCU
Losing 4 starters means this is going to be worse than they were this year, but they have a pretty good class coming in, including one of the best centers in the nation.
Also keep their top 2 bench players, and 2 more great players that spent a lot of the season injured. This will be their last year at the bottom of the Big XII.

I strongly disagree with this statement. We will be young, but talented. Record wise we might take a step back because of youth, but the talent is there. 4 top 125 recruits (Niang, SDW, Man Man, and Iceman) Plus Ejim, is a solid core. If they can all make a Niang like impact as a freshman, we will be fine. Plus I think the Juco's will be fine. This is not the least talented team he's had. So saying that, I think the floor is 17 wins, the ceiling could be better than the last two years.

No way OU finishes 9th. This will be in the upper half. Alot are picking them to win it next year.

Next year we'll be picked to finish 6th or worse and with the amount of unknown/youth on our team I would tend to agree.

This is the second mistake I see in your analysis. How many times have we said KU lost too much, they will not win the league next year. Did you see how bad Ellis was destroying us yesterday? The only reason he is not playing is because he has 2 seniors in front of him. Tharpe, I think is every bit as good as Johnson. They will be back on top again next year, and should be predicted to be until someone actually unseats them.

I enjoy everyones input so far.

Yes, I have seen how many times Kansas has lost a lot and come back to win it all. However, you can not replace the 4 of the 5 starters Kansas has. They have GREAT talent, but I'm not liking the chances with K-States talent.

It may not happen right away next year, but KU has a monster recruits - that I will bet all end up better than 3 of this year's starting 5, if not all. They could come in and dominate right from the start. Not to mention, none of last year's recruits are playing much - and they were highly-rated as well.

ISU will be rated 8th preseason, as always. I expect ISU to overachieve, also as always.

Actually, I'd guess that we'll be picked 8th or 9th. We won't finish that way, though.

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.

As I said in the OP - they have a crazy good class coming in. But that doesn't mean they will be #1 next year.

I think Kansas will be the best team in the country in 2-3 years with their class this year. But I don't see them being #1 in the conference next year.

    The streak ends in 2014.

I hope you're right, because I'm getting tired of this. If I'm betting my own money, though - chalk, RockChalk
