KC Bartender: Cyclones Good, KU Bad

Watched a news clip the other night discussing the impacts of the B12 tournament on the KC economy and they were interviewing a bartender who works in the P&L district. His comment about the fans from the various schools was something to the effect of "Cyclone fans are the best tippers, KState fans are just average tippers, and KU fans are the worst tippers of all."

    Loved it!

Don't blame them, probably don't have money from the ref fund. I hear O'Neil is pretty expensive these days

There is a KU fan that moved here from Kansas a few years back. He moved back but we would go out to the bar and he would not tip. One NYE he gave a dollar as a tip and waved at the bartender so he would know there was a tip. It got so bad we stopped going out with him because we would have to tip for him so people didn't think we were as cheap as him. That doesn't surprise me at all.

I tip, but i guess i dont understand why i would need to tip every drink. If a waiter serving me a meal gets a 15% tip. Why should the bartender get a dollar tip every time they fill a glass or take the bottle cap off a beer?

I don't really tip much for beer.

I am with you on this, especially if you are in a place that sells beer for $5-6 for a 12 ounce draw. If you are paying that much the owner can afford to pay a bartender better and it doesn't take a lot of skill to open a beer, I've done it several times without hurting myself. If I drank something mixed I might tip.

I usually start a tab and tip at the end. Much easier that way.

You tip to create good favor with the bartender. If you don't care about that I don't think it's a big deal.

This. By tipping the dollar, you are increasing the probability of expedient service. Having been on the other side of the bar, I can assure you that if you are one of those "I don't tip because the bartender didn't do anything for me" people, you're getting lower on the priority list. People who don't tip are usually the same people who ***** about poor service.

Paying with cash each drink is guaranteed to cost you out the @$$ with tips. i agree 100% on the tab, but many places like beer gardens and such don't allow for that.

How about from the other perspective, if it takes you 5-10 minutes to get a beer, should you get a tip?

If you don't want to tip when you buy a beer drink your beers at home. You can't put a dollar down on most of the beers you buy you shouldn't be at the bar.

Because you're a Cyclone which means you're classy and have the money to do it. If the tight-*** K-State sheep farmers or broke **** KU turds don't want to tip no one should be surprised.
