I posted a couple of new articles on my site that I think are pretty decent and many of you would like to see...(maybe)...
First, is a quick look at each Big 12 player's best scoring performance in raw points in a game an the opponents he did it against as well as a look at the best scoring efficiency for those players in a game and those opponents. There's an interesting twist with ISU.
Then, with all of the talk of officiating and a specific comment I saw on twitter from a Kansas fan I was interested to delve into how each Big 12 team is officiated and how it plays out in home games versus road game. I think the most telling part of it comes with the table that shows how each team ranks and the change in that ranking from home to away games.
All this tells me is Kansas can get away with more both at home and away, and refs can call everything on the opponent and the fouls will come out close to even. When we are at home our crowds let the refs know when they suck.
I use my eyes, not stats to come to my conclusion.
“I’ll put any dollar that if I get this ball again,” Long said, “It’s going in.” - Naz Long to Markel Brown before hitting the game tying shot.
Thanks for the comments, guys. I really appreciate it.
I will say that if you only looked at the chart that kucyclone posted you are probably missing out a little bit as I continually point out that it is far from conclusive but still there are things to be learned. I actually think that for whatever reason while KU has that margin at home games you do have to note that they get more calls on the road than any other team.
I actually prefer the table that I made that charts each team's rank in fouls per game at home, fouls per game on the road, opp fouls per game at home, and opp fouls per game on the road so you can then compare each team to the other teams in those settings. Here is that table:
On a related note, what happened to the morons that used to run the Big 12's blog that runs along the right side of ESPN.com's CBB blog? It's like a ghost town on that site. We need to get that stuff updated, man.
