Pretty good to have your entire starting five and your sixth man all get some sort of recognition.

I really thought Melvin would make at least 2nd team, most certainly ahead of Rodriguez or Brown.

Is it really that hard to understand that recruiting is part of coaching? It must be.

I guess your explanation is correct, but then why not just call it "Transfer of the Year"? Smart and McLemore are just as new to the conference as Clyburn.

I would have put both Ejim and Clyburn on second team

re: McGee, Clyburn, Ejim, Babb, Niang, and Lucious Win Big 12 Awards

I think Jackson was more deserving of 1st team honors other than anybody named Withey or Smart. He just carried so much more of the load than either McGruder or McLemore.

I don't think M'biaye deserved 3rd team honors. Probably would've gone with Cory Jefferson.

I'm very happy Kevin Young didn't get any postseason honors.

Babb had a really good back half of the Big 12 season. If he would've had a normal game against Oklahoma I think he could have definitely been HM. It's kind of crazy that he was the guy that played the most minutes, yet wasn't one of the 4 from ISU that were honored on the main teams.

Garlon Green probably could have gotten HM honors, simply for beating KU nearly by himself.

well, I'll disagree on Withey. I'd put him on the 2nd team with no question. I am not sure why everyone loves him so much.

I'll take Jackson over McGruder 10 times out of 10

I assume that since Juco transfers and D1 transfers are different, they just created the award to include both. Yeah a little nit picky but that's the only explanation I can think of. I agree with ya tho. Transfer of the year would be a better name

I'm a bit partial to shotblockers cause I hated playing against them.

Great recognition, only beef is that Ejim maybe should be second team. Hard to defend how a player who leads the conference in rebounding and averages double figures scoring is not a top ten player in the league...of course some may think our rebounding numbers are inflated from our pace of play, which is a valid point.

But even that one complaint, his other honor makes up for it.

These numbers (courtesy of the excellent sports-reference.com) are pace and playing time adjusted. Ejim still looks quite good. I said, even before the season, that I thought Ejim was our best player, and I've seen nothing that has made me change my mind. I think he should have been 2nd team.

Wow great post. Agreed it's hard to argue even that angle, but I'm sure it'll keep coming up as long as we're a fast paced team. As an NBA fan, interesting Withey is not even top ten overall. I'd much prefer my team take a chance on Jefferson over JW.
