Couple of thoughts about yesterday's game...

Can we seriously get Mac to stop going for two point conversions? Had UNLV scored there at the end, all it would have taken was a PAT to end the game.

Bowen was all over the place again yesterday, he had 13 tackles. Jon Banks really showed his athleticism and had 12 tackles. Rashawn Parker had another sack and a total of 2.5 tackles for a loss. Chris Singleton had an OUTSTANDING interception.

I refuse to start boycotting the games or any other nonsense, because we looked way worse than that against Illinois State and Army last year.

Maybe we just aren't that good. I mean honestly, I agree that the play calling could have been a little bit better, but I also remember thinking that there were plenty of wide open plays called. The offense just did not execute. Meyer was feeling a little more pressure than I liked from UNLV, which is not a good sign.

With our style of defense, we need to start forcing more turnovers or we're going to get waxed by good teams.

Mac didn't go for two. Flynn fumbled the hold and tried to run in for two on a botched PAT.

Other than that, I agree with your summary.

    We went for two? when?

We didn't go for two. Like CyinCo said, the placement of the ball after it was snapped for the extra point attempt was botched, and so the placeholder decided to at least try running it in.

Maybe Meyer is feeling pressure from having Arnaud as a back up :)

    Why are folks on Meyer?

Meyer completed 66% of his passes and averaged 15 yards per completion. Not sure why everyone is down on him. Wasn't the typical Meyer but still good.

Not really voicing an opinion on the team just yet. I am waiting to see when this team has something to play for, i.e. Iowa, Nebraska. Not to say these first two games were meaningless, but in the grand scheme of things, we have bigger fish to fry. I just hope we are using the right bait!

Maybe, just maybe our coaching staff intentionally have been holding the reigns back until we play the big boys. I really really hope they are, but I have a feeling that wasn't the plan.... I want to see something spectacular, ie daring, in the line of play calling next week. It's friggin Iowa, and we need to pull out all the stops and get creative, and pull the rug out from under them. They are awfully pedestrian without drew tate, and I think our offense is worlds better than Syracuse's. Not ready to throw in the towel, but I am starting to have massive doubts.

Now that we can actually kick...we can't get the snap/hold down right. UGH!

The defense was the strength last night. I don't blame them for not looking the best in the 2nd half...they were on the field for the majority of it!

I really believe that Mac did not show a single tape of either UNLV or Toledo all Spring, Summer and thus far into the fall. I would put major dollars on mac showing game tape and the team preparing for Iowa and not UNLV or toledo at all. Maybe thats why we have looked (far) less than impressive. I wouldn't put it past mac to have this team preparing for Iowa since the spring. I also wouldn't put it past him to be holding Blythe back until Iowa. He's had, what? 3 receptions this season? bet hes has triple that against Iowa.

I would have a hard time believing that MAC wouldnt have shown tapes to prepare for these games at all. If MAC isnt preparing the teams for these games then that would have even me calling for his head. There is no excuse in not preparing for a team and I would have a hard time believing that he is going to look at these games as automatic wins and looking at games such as Iowa.

I agree Bryce, the defense played incredibly well considering they played almost the whole 2nd half. If the offense would have controlled the ball more in the 3rd and 4th, the defense probably would have played closer and tighter.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

This is how Mac keeps his job. Put everything into the Iowa game and then suck the rest of the year.

I'm very worried this year. That Toledo team that we all thought was so good got drilled yesterday and UNLV is terrible. Where do we stand? I don't have a clue at this point. The good thing is I don't think Iowa knows either.

We stand at 2-0, early in a year that is looking to be good and entertaining. Keep ur spirits up and it'll work out.

How can the offense control the ball when they only had it for 2:26 in the 4th quarter? Make a stop so the offense can get back on the field.
