    Jon Miller article on Ferentz

Online reports on Sunday have suggested that Michigan has offered Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz its vacant head coaching position. This is in addition to speculation from national talking heads that Ferentz is atop Michigan's wish list. HN.com Publisher Jon Miller feels it's time to weigh in on this topic and he takes on the question; will he or won't he?

Verrrryyyyyy interesting. I bet Barta never thought he was taking a job on a sinking ship when he was hired.

I think KF is gone....and the Hawks are going to be in a fuss bigtime.

Can we get a Cybookie bet going on whether KF stays or leaves?

Working on it, the problem is when to end the betting. Giving everyone enough time to bet but before an annoucement comes out.

I just find it hard to believe that KF is THE head coach that Michigan wants! Connections aside...this is MICHIGAN we are talking about! How do they sell a 19-18 record to their fanbase? And if they do sell it to them...what does that say about the Iowa program? That a coach with a 19-18 recent record is doing well enough to take on the Michigan program?

I respect KF for a lot of reasons and wouldn't blame him for going to Michigan...but it just doesn't seem likely...

With all this talk I wouldn't be surprised if there is an announcement from Michigan on Monday.

Whether or not it's KF is yet to be seen.

This is pretty much exactly what I was going to come in and post. How do they sell Ferentz's record for the past few years to Michigan's fanbase? How about the off-field problems?

Not only that, but is KF willing to take a pay cut to go to Michigan? Then again, as Miller said on State of the Nations, KF wouldn't have to do much for recruiting, Michigan pretty much recruits itself just in the name. This will be interesting to see it play out.

Good question. Also, isn't it rather rare for head coaches to move to another team within the same BCS conference?

Iowa is not any more of a sinking ship than ISU was when McCarney got canned.

Uh...clarify! Not sure of the point you are trying to make! When did DMac get brought into this thread?

Or when Wayne Morgan got canned. Iowa is basically going down the same road we did the last few years. It isn't fun but sometimes change can be good, too.

The poster I quoted was making a point about how Iowa is a sinking ship because KF may be gone. I was making the point that ISU was in a very similar situation last season when McCarney was let go. ISU is fine, and Iowa will be fine, regardless of the outcome.

I'm almost hesitant to say, that at this point, KF leaving may be the best way to go. Recruits are dropping like flies, and he's not saying anything. It gets really hard to stomach after a while.

OK...fair enough. My bad as I read it like you were trying to take a shot at ISU only because Iowa is going through a difficult situation! Thanks for the explanation!
