Beautiful. That's a perfect bowl to hopefully replace the Pinstripe.

Orlando and an ACC team. I would take that.

Try pricing plane tickets to Orlando on short notice during the holiday season and you may not like this arrangement all that well.

Isn't that the case everywhere though? New York, Phoenix, Boise weren't all that cheap.
Only decent one I saw was the Houston Bowl but we drove there and the Liberty Bowl.

Nice. Might provide Wally and Shane a good platform to do some more damage on our behalf.

Re: Big 12 in discussions with Russell Athletic Bowl

Allegiant air flies there from DSM, don't they? I haven't seen their pricing peak over $250 per person to Orlando from my local airport over the holidays.

Plus the game is mid-week, so if you took the week off between Christmas and New Years you could drive it vs. a NYE bowl that is 2 or 2.5 driving days away.

Four of us drove a conversion van from Des Moines to Key West between Christmas and New Years one year in under 26 hours. Orlando is 6-7 hours shorter.

Lololol what? So do you just want to drive to Memphis and play Tulsa every year?

This would be great for recruiting and a change of pace from TX/AZ/CA bowls

Orlando is 100 miles closer to Ames than Phoenix...and how many fans did we have there?

Dsm to Orlando plane tickets are cheaper than most other places down south that time of year.

i think this is a very smart move for the B12 especially if conference expansion starts again

Also from Cedar Rapids and the Quad Cities. Orlando is one of the biggest airline destinations in the country - virtually every airline flies there.

Yes, it's a pain getting cheap tickets at the holidays. Welcome to bowl reality.

I had kinda forgot what bowl that was. I think the Big 12 played in it before a few years ago when it was the Champs Sports Bowl.

Yes!!!! This was the bowl I was upset the Big 12 dumped several years ago and I am so happy they are trying to get it back! Orlando for a bowl game? Yes please!

And for the people complaining about the price of airfare over the holidays, you may be very surprised. I have priced out trips to Orlando over the holidays before Southwest was in Des Moines and got around $300 RT. Not too shabby. Now that Southwest is in Des Moines, I can see it being even cheaper. Orlando is one of Southwest's focus cities and has very reasonable airfare there year round.

Yep it used to be a Big 12 bowl for a while when it was called the Champs Sports bowl. Before that it was the Tangerine Bowl which might be more commonly known by many.
