    WBB post-season awards

The league is announcing them throughout the 10 a.m. hour. They just announced COY and, of course, it's Kim Mulkey. Big surprise... The All-Big 12 honors haven't been announced yet. So far, nothing for Iowa State.

What a joke. I hate the giving of it to the team who is expected to win it and does. We had a 7 person rotation and at times is was more like 6.

Either the other coaches have no respect for Fennelly or something very weird is happening. This is a huge disappointment. Heck, what does the guy have to do? He wins conference titles and no award. His teams overachieve and no award. Wow.

    Re: WBB post-season awards

There was ZERO way Bill was getting that award this year. If Baylor would have lost 2-3 games then I think Bill gets it, but that wasn't the case.

That said, it is pretty crazy he has never won it before. Especially when we won the conference and tournament in 2000.

How did Bill not win it when he won titles?

Still nothing for Iowa State. Not a single mention on the all-defensive OR all-freshman teams. I thought Kidd would have at least made the freshmen list. Wow.

Hallie AND Pop both made the 1st team All-Big 12 list. Nikki was an Honorable Mention. Good for them!!

Here's a link to everything from the Big 12 page:

Wasn't Baylor expected to dominate the league this year? How can you give COY honors to a coach who simply lived up to expectations? Never understood that.

ONLY one reason I can think of . . . they are envious of what Fen has built here at ISU . . . and professionally jealous. They just HATE what he has done here.

For them . . . Mulkey and her androids are a perfect excuse . . . to ignore Fen as COY.

Brynn should have been all defense team for sure

    Re: WBB post-season awards

I thought Brynn would make the all-defensive team, and maybe Kidd had an outside chance on the freshman team. I think with Kidd, she probably just needs to be more consistent. Surprised Brynn didn't make it though.

-Be kind. That is something you will never regret. You will never say to yourself when you are old "I wish I was not good to that person".

Compare Kidd's stats against Prince from Baylor and you'll see Kidd got hosed. I have no problem with the others on the all freshman team but Prince does not belong over Kidd. The only reason Prince is on is because she plays for Baylor.

    Re: WBB post-season awards

If you look on the Big 12 site in the media guide for the conference you will find that only one male has won coach of the year in women's basketball, Gary Blair of Texas A & M in 2006/07 when they were conference champions. With the exception of BF, it has generally went to the coach of the conference champion, but I did not look at all the championships to verify that point. Coale got it the year that Iowa State won the conference tournament and the year Iowa State won the regular season title.
