    West walkway by Hilton down

Looks like either it fell or they pulled a part of the elevated walk from Hilton to Stephens down today

Re: West walkway by Hilton down

Aren't there plans to do a fairly major renovation to the Iowa State Center area?

It was torn down as part of the renovations to the Iowa State Center beginning.

Well I guarantee it didn't just fall down...ISU is an engineering school.

If it fell down, the Daily kos would have written an article about it.

I barely remember a very great evening at The Who concert and the fun we had on the west walkway after the concert, brings a tear to my eye. God am I old.

I doubt it affects foot traffic tonight, but they couldn't wait 1 more day?

My takeaway: More parking, less walkways, better egress, more courtyard for events, more green, less concrete.

The beer truck hit it after the Miranda Lambert concert and caused structural damage.

The Kansas city Hyatt regency wonders if engineered structures can collapse?

First time I've seen this and it looks pretty cool. I especially like the courtyard and upper plaza. Finally, that space will be people-friendly and look more modern! I know all the raised walkways looked so futuristic in the late 60s and early 70s (like Logan's Run), but it all just looks dated (not to mention all the crumbling cement used in the structure). Glad they have a plan that actually looks nice and will serve a real purpose.

All people who make sweepingly generalized, stupid, uninformed comments are idiots.

Agreed. The 140-some additional parking spaces will be awesome, too.

I'm a big fan of the new trail from the corner of Lincoln Way and Beach to the center, as well. That'll be great for students heading to Jack Trice.
