    Buckley on Fire

The 5A semi-final game is on right now.....channel 20 on Mediacom and I'm sure on others.

Mason City was down by 2. Jadda Buckley has hit 3 3's in a row.....Mason City up by 7.

Was going to post the same thing. Was it 3 or 4? She has been taking over this game in the 2nd half

It was 3 in a row. She has made 4 total. If you have been watching......did you notice how the one ref keeps getting too close to the plays? It's like he is a player out there. Cracks me up.

    Re: Buckley on Fire

Dowling comes back and wins it. Jadda just did not have enough help this game. Can't wait to see her in Cardinal and Gold. She will be a good point, but she could play the 2 also. I was surprised how much time she spent in the lane trying to get in position to post up.

I hope BF is looking at Faber (soph) and Hittner (frosh) from Dowling too, especially Hittner. She looks like she could be special by her junior year.

I bet Jadda sees more time at the 2 next year to learn the system. They have tons of plays to learn, and that's a lot for a frosh to be PG at ISU.

Let her get to know the system first, before having to run it. Maybe some time at the 1 to spell Moody.

The real downfall next year, is Hallie moves to the 4 I bet, which all the mismatch she gives us this year, may be lost. I think if Maddie or Jensen can give us solid minutes as defenders and rebounders, we should be good though. It gonna be raining threes next year.

Yes, it certainly should be! As of right now, with the 194 threes made by the team, 172 of them are from non-seniors. That certainly bodes well for the game behind the arc. It would be nice to see the girls get back up near the team record for threes (300 even - accomplished twice, no less) back around 2000/2001.

Jadda, take tomorrow off then get into that weight room, girl! The Big 12 is a rough league.

Yes she will be. Very good ball skills, esp for a frosh.

Thanks for the update - too bad Buckley couldn't power Mason city onward. She's a winner none-the-less.

    Re: Buckley on Fire

Jadda scored nine points in 43 seconds (three 3s). Her last three in that series was the last field goal Mason City made, and it came with 3:18 left in the third. Jadda finished with 23, a game-high, and shot 7-of-15 with 5 rebounds, 4 steals. She'll be enrolling in June

    Some quotes:

“Unbelievably disappointed we didn’t get past this game.” - Jadda Buckley

“We didn’t finish, which sucks. Personally, I didn’t finish at all, which I’m really disappointed in my own self.” - Jadda Buckley

“We went on a phenomenal run, and I thought we had it. But then again he subbed, so that pretty well screwed us over. Other than that, I thought we had it.” - Jadda Buckley disagreeing with Coach Klaahsen's sub patterns

“Knowing I have a future at Iowa State, it helps. I can’t wait to get playing for coach (Bill) Fennelly. His intelligence is off the wall, and it’s going to be an unbelievable opportunity for me to play for him.” - Jadda Buckley

“whatever (Fennelly) wants me to do and whatever I need to do to help the team is what I will be doing.” - Jadda Buckley

She will also be doing that as a right away as a freshman, Fennelly believes.

“Jadda’s going to have a dramatic impact on our team,” Fennelly said. “I think she’s the kind of kid that wants her responsibility, she can handle it. She’s played at a high level her whole life. We obviously need more ball-handling, which will help. She’s a really good defender. Most incoming freshmen can’t spell defense, let alone want to play it, and she’ll want to guard you. So you’ll see a lot of No. 11 next year.”

Not afraid to throw some blame to the coach either.
