Re: CF Mailbag: Who is Iowa State's MVP?

Disagree with Babb. Without him, how much worse could our defense really be? He shuts down McLemore but Johnson goes for 39 because we don't play team defense very well a lot of the times. If we were a team that was very good defensively, I could see the case for Babb more because it would actually be influencing something. Right now it's just displacing the scoring.

I'd go with Ejim because we are a good rebounding team and he's the base of that. The other thing is that he makes a bunch of plays that don't show up whether it be keeping a rebound alive or forcing the play somewhere else. You could make a point for about anyone though.

You could make a case for any of the 6 guys that play the most minutes. That's what makes our offense so good.

I'd say Ejim. Look at what happened after he fouled out vs Kansas.

Ejim is the heart and soul of this team, the only one who consistently plays as hard as possible on every play.

I think Korie has been outstanding. He's definitely proved he's one of the great ISU point guards. Sad its his last/only year. We'll miss him.

Look at what happens when he's sidelined for significant minutes in any game.

I love Melvin, but he was only on the court 22 minutes against KU.

College Basketball Player Stat Leaders (2012-2013) - StatSheet.com

Tyrus has a 132 offensive efficiency rating and is fourth in the country. A few more buckets and he may be second. Michael Hart is other worldly at 170.

Re: CF Mailbag: Who is Iowa State's MVP?

Melvin Ejim. Like someone said above, the defense can't get all that much worse. 1 great defender does no good with 4 below average defenders on the floor with him.

That and our rebounding with Ejim off the floor is just atrocious.

Re: CF Mailbag: Who is Iowa State's MVP?

Bball Stats has our top 6 players rated as 4 B and 2 B- with Will leading the way.
To compare, WVU has none scoring this high. The one team that has better stat talent appears to be OSU.

    The stats for all games:

College Basketball Player Stat Leaders (2012-2013) - StatSheet.com

Melvin and Georges are 2nd and 4th in getting fouls...and are tied in disqualifications for lergue lead. Booker time?
