I think he got hurt? Or did we decide that wasn't true.

He had that minor injury and didn't really "wow" at the combine. Hard to make your stock go up with those factors.

4.66 as a MLB is "wow"

One workout at the combine does not equal a "wow" combine.

Isn't that what the combine is? It really comes down to one workout and you get placed on a teams watch list?

Hence, Heyward-Bey ran a sub 4.3 40 yrd dash and b/c of that got drafted first round by the Raiders. Teo just ran a 4.82 and b/c of that his draft stock has fallen even more.

Do they run the 40 in track spikes or football cleats?

    40yrd for a WR >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 40yrd for ILB

Biggest knock on AJ is that he is too small for ILB, not athletic enough for OLB. His bench wasn't a "wow" factor for strength to play inside, and his broad jump was average, which is usually a good measure of explosiveness needed to play on the outside.

I'm not saying AJ won't be a starter at the next level, I'm saying he had an alright combine, which isn't enough to warrant being moved up.

    Re: AK's draft stock falling?

250 is not too small for an NFL Middle Linebacker, there are many of them at that size...particularly in 3-4 sets. Just peeked at the Colts MLB's for an example and they average 234, with 3 of 5 in the depth chart under 240. A quick look around shows that to be rather typical...so he is anything but too small, and that 4.66 forty time is well above average as well. Not saying it will rocket him into the top few rounds, but there's no way his stock could drop based on performance at the combine. Concerns of being injury prone migh have an effect, but his college history shows no such tendency so that seems unlikely as well.

Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman are both around 240 and they were two of the best ILBs in the league last year. I'm going to stop looking there and just say 250 isn't small for an ILB. What teams are looking for now are guys that can run down the middle with TEs. His 40 was OK and his bench was not good. The rest was average. It's hard to move up on those numbers but I think he shed the idea that his speed is a weakness.
