Last night reminded when my passion for sports has dropped off

throwing stuff on the court, engaging players disrespectfully on twitter and confronting another team's coach in person?

    we are better than this.

No.... it's the actions of the officials that has ruined my passion for sports.

I am incredibly embarrassed by the actions of a few morons. I hope the university addresses those two idiots with the racist tweets and I hope that idiot that went after Self is never allowed in Hilton again

You can only get kicked in the nuts so many times before you do something stupid. Most ISU fans are numb to it and try to move on. Others go over the edge. Some of this stuff that goes against our teams just adds up and I think many can't take it any more. Doesn't excuse them but I get it.

I don't think the that guy was charging at Self as much as the security guard was preparing for a possible charge. Wish the officials dealt with charging people the way the security guard did

So you don't like sports anymore because of 3 people and then some others throwing stuff on the court? I guarantee you things would have been thrown on the court at every place in the country after that atrocity and probably would have been a lot worse.

Re: Last night reminded when my passion for sports has dropped off

I'm not sure what all went on with some of the more pathetic fans in our fan base, but they are in the minority not the majority.

Last night actually reminded me why I'm so passionate about ISU basketball. I grew up living and breathing ISU basketball and became somewhat apathetic after Eustachy left until a couple years ago. Fred has brought back passion and energy into this program and I think all the fans can see it and feel it. I can't remember the last time I felt THAT bad after a loss...in any sport. I literally couldn't sleep last night after the game. While the lows are definitely low, the highs are very high as well. Fred has this program pointed in the right direction and I think we can definitely expect more exciting games like this for many year to come. And with Fred in charge, I guarantee ISU will come out on top more often than not.

The OP must not have been around very much when Billy Tubbs and Oklahoma used to come to town!

I agree with the OP, social media and internet message boards give some stupid people too much opportunity to be heard.

Re: Last night reminded when my passion for sports has dropped off

Nothing you say I necessarily disagree with, but...

We know nothing about the guy who confronted Self outside of one picture. For all we know, he was just taunting him which is no different than any normal activity at any arena in the country. The difference here is an officer got in the way which possibly makes things seem worse then they are. Or maybe they were bad, who knows?

Fans throwing stuff on the court? Yeah, that's not good.

Fan attacking player on Twitter? Yeah, obviously not good.

    HOWEVER...

I think you should be MUCH MUCH MUCH more concerned with the integrity of the game. If there is no integrity, there is no game. Last night leads me to believe there is no integrity.

Last night was pretty mild compared to other events. Anyone remember this years cardinals brave game in the playoffs? Thousands of beer bottles thrown on the field. I'm actually surprised something worse didn't happen last night.

All of this. Apathy is gone for basketball and the expectation to win every time out has taken over, making the Hilton screw job all the more painful and resulting in over the top reactions. The fan base needs to weed out the bad apples now so when we are getting shafted ala elite 8 style, it isn't worse.
