    Syracuse's zone

I would love the Cyclones to get a shot at Syracuse. I think their zone would be a perfect matchup for ISU's long bombers. I could see that being a big upset in the tournament (if it ever came to fruition) Would be a very high scoring game. Also, and post today should include: GREAT WIN CYCLONES!! DO IT AGAIN ON MONDAY!

    Re: Syracuse's zone

they would get about 137 dunks against our interior D.

Syracuse would absolutely destroy us unless we hit 60%+ on 3s.

    Odds are, you're correct.

On the other hand, this ISU team could hit 60% from 3 vs. a 2-3 zone.

There's a realistic shot of this matchup actually taking place in Round of 32. Syracuse as 2 or 3, ISU at 6/11 or 7/10.

With such great shooters the Cyclones spread the court out as well as any team in the country. If we can continue to strengthen our inside game and stay out of foul trouble we'll be a difficult match up in the tourny.

    Re: Syracuse's zone

What about Miami? Watching them today lost to Wake Forest made me think Iowa State would matchup well against them but I'm not sure we would in a tournament atmosphere. Would love to see Iowa State take down the hottest team of 2013

This isn't just a 2-3 zone that Iowa State throws on the floor (we would destroy that), this is a 2-3 zone with excellent athletes. They would make us completely one-dimensional from 24' instead of 21' and it would get ugly. Their 2-3 zone, while it's supposed to be a weakness, is very, very good against guarding the 3 point line. We do a really nice job guarding the perimeter. We're #52 in 3% against and they're #10.

Agreed. I said it would be a high scoring game. I also think McGee is one of the best players at finding holes in zones.

Speaking of zone, so far I've been impressed with our zone D in the last several games. I hope we use it a little more down the stretch

Syracuse looked pretty terrible to me watching the first half. 15 points with 1:32 left in the half. Jacked up 9 threes and made zero in span of six minutes. Hmmm...

Hilton Coliseum was specifically built to hold in sound with a solid concrete structure, steel doors, and a crowd that sits just a few feet from the court. With a fan base that frequently ranks among the nations largest crowds, players from opposing teams, as well as Iowa State, have said that the floor has shaken due to the loudness of the crowd
