Agree here. Bubu has reached his ceiling. And that's ok. He's become a solid addition, and he's worked his butt off to get the playing time he deserves. But let's face it, he is what he is and lets hope Morris is ready to go from day 1 next year... If he's not, we'll struggle offensively until he is.

He just isn't a high potential guy. You don't see the improvment from years four to five that you see from one to two.

I think you are wrong. Bubu has only been able to practice half the year and he still plays before the freshmen. But yeah, the bench Warner's will beat him out next season lol. Bubu is also on the floor because his defense is better then most on the team. Naz has a ton to work on I that department as well.

First, you are placing too much weight on overall ceiling (high potential) and not enough on improvement made in the next 10-12 months.

Second, all things equal you may see more improvement in years one to two than three to four, but things are not equal (and the other guards are going from 0 to 1). It is likely Bubu will improve more in the next 10-12 months with the additional PT than he has the previous 24 months when he missed an entire season's worth of basketball (injury and suspension). You make improvement by playing basketball, which Bubu will be doing to a much greater degree in the next year than he has in the past two.

Re: Blog: How will the JuCo's affect next season?

We don't need potential from Bubu. We need experience and leadership.

If you think that Morris is going to walk in and understand what Fred wants to do offensively, and how to play team defense (more than Bubu), on day 1 - you're smoking crack.

By the end of the season? Maybe. And Yes, I understand Morris is a highly-rated player, with a far-greater potential than Palo. But PG is probably the toughest position (mentally) to play.

I know that by defending Bubu, people will somehow take it that I'm "down" on Morris (and Thomas) - which is pathetic.. I think they can both play day 1 (moreso Thomas - because of the SG position is easier), but I have no doubts that our backcourt defense could be very bad when those two are on the court. Not because they suck, but because they won't know what's expected with help D, switching on screens, how to follow around/ rip through screens. Experience matters in these situations - even to smart, talented freshman.

I understand that Bubu has reached his physical and probably mental ceiling, but that doesn't mean he can't improve his shot. I'm sure that he won't get any quicker, or play smarter (he already plays pretty smart) but his shot is one thing that can always improve, and I'm sure it will

A top 10 recruit with one offer from a power conference school is just plain ridiculous.

Re: Blog: How will the JuCo's affect next season?

I don't see where someone would get the idea that Bubu would not improve given a stretch without injury or the suspension. The man lost a year of full practice and participation, and he's still solid. Give him the offseason and practice to improve, and it's logical to say that he will improve.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!
