    Snow Day Mischief

A few years ago it had snowed overnight but I didn't think it was enough to close schools. But across the bottom of the TV screen was all of these school closings. Then I started listening to what was being said and it was old news.

My son had recorded the morning news one day when school was closed and was playing it in hopes that I would believe that school was cancelled.

The nice thing about today's technology is the clear picture "live feel" you get with DVR. Nobody could pull this off on VHS.

    Re: Snow Day Mischief

I have to admit, once I saw we were under a pretty big severe storm warning and tornado watch, went in the other room to tell my wife, then sat back down and hit play to continue watching a several day-old show.

    Re: Snow Day Mischief

Smart kid! I love the craftiness of it.

Last year we had a tornado roll through south KC. I had a ROUGH night prior and was chilling in the recliner in my man cave watching a golf tournament I had on DVR. The better half was sleeping on the couch. It was about 6pm.

The tornado sirens go off. WTF? If there is bad weather why isn't the TV telling me so? Didn't even occur to me in my hazy state that I was watching a recorded program.

I saunter up the stairs and step out the front door. Holy ******* ****, there is a tornado RIGHT THERE. My idiot neighbor kid and five of his 16 year old friends are playing catch in the street. I scream at him to get inside and he says "where do we go?" Are you kidding me? You've lived in Kansas for 16 years and you have no idea what to do? I tell him to go to the basement and we run inside.

Turn on the TV in our laundry room (in our sub-basement) and they're showing the tornado touching down just down the street.

It flattened three businesses that are a mile from my house. Modern technology nearly got us killed!

At the time he was 13. Too techie for me. He had a calculator or some other hand held device that he turned into a remote control. Would sit in class and turn on the television. Drove teachers crazy because they had the real remote in their desk

Your son is an evil genius, Homer.

I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all.

So if this happened a few years ago and your son was 13, he's pretty young to be a lobbyist in DC, but after all, he is a genius.
