    Dunkin Donuts Open in Ames

Saw a line outside the Dunkin Donuts early this morning and forgot it was opening today. Who's already been there?

I went to one in St. Joe MO a couple weeks ago.

    Not impressed...

Yeah, I refuse to buy into the hype surrounding this place. I've been to several of them across the country. I don't get what's so special. Their donuts are fine, but not anything more than say Casey's donuts. Their coffee? It's coffee. Really don't know what the big deal is.

You need to go before 9 am or else it's not worth it.

Re: Dunkin Donuts Open in Ames

In high school we used to go to Dunkin Donuts on Wednesday as that was a dozen eclairs for $1.00. The coffee was always awesome but I think thats was because their regular coffee was loaded with sugar and cream. The last time I went to one in Chicago about 10 years ago I got a black coffee and it was terrible.
The band director would write us a pass to leave school as long as we would get him a coffee.

Ya when I lived in Chicago I'd get 4 or 5 long johns after a night of drinking, for whatever reason that always made my hangover go away. Plus brownie points for bringing them back to the now-ex-gf.

Biggest thing about this place in my mind is it's open 24 hours. That will be good to know in the future.

Re: Dunkin Donuts Open in Ames

Went on the way to work. Got a dozen assorted and a coffee to share with the office. They were good, nothing to write home about, but on the way to work so that is a plus. Not sure about the 24 hour thing. I went through the drive through and it had hours listed of 5am to 10 pm.

Very important lesson learned... NEVER pass up the opportunity to acquire a bottle of Templeton Rye... NEVER.

Are you one of those guys that can't tell the difference between Coffee A and Coffee B? Nothing wrong with you if you are, but it's interesting that there seems to be a lot of people who can't distinguish between different coffees.

I guess one of the things I like so much about DD is its reliability; the coffee always tastes the same and is served at the same temperature. There's so much more variance even at a staple like Starbucks, with their 5 million different blends.

I'm a huge fan of their coffee. It is my preferred brand. For those giving the "it's just coffee" argument, it's like jumping to a Templeton Rye discussion and saying it's the same as Black Velvet.

    And, I've never met a donut I didn't love. :)

I've been to Dunkin Donuts back home and it was nothing to write home about. Their tater tots though are pretty good.
