Of All People Fred Should Understand What Booker is Going Through

The 2003-2004 Minnesota Timberwolves were a much better team with Fred Hoiberg on the floor than Wally Szczerbiak. 1) Fred was a better 3 pt shooter. 2) Fred was a better man defender. Wally Szczerbiak's idea of man to man Defense was "Help, Switch"!

I have a problem with the staff saying Booker's attitude is bad in practice. Ask yourself who Booker is likely guarding in practice? Yup Gibson. If I was Booker I would sag off him and appear to play lazy defense as well. I'd let him take as many 10 footers and put it on the floor as much as he wanted. You know Percy will dribble it off his foot and I swear Percy says, "Rain Dance" every time he launches from 10 feet+.

I think Fred understands just fine what Booker is going through, which is why Booker doesn't get much PT.

I haven't seen this much desire from people on this board to see a non-starter play more minutes since Bo Williams was our 4th string running back.

I don't want to slam Anthony in defending Fred because I really don't know what is going on, but if it is an attitude or practicing hard issue, I guarantee that Fred was not having those same issues.

Wait... now I am confused, so Percy is playing over Booker because we are paying him more and cant have our high cost star sitting on the bench just because his counterpart is playing better?

I think it's more than just lack of effort that's keeping Booker on the pine.

Well maybe that's the problem. Maybe he is doing that and the staff wants him to do something else. In other words, play team ball and do what is asked. If not, sit.

I don't know how Fred runs a practice, but I would assume much of the "practice" this time of year are working on the details of specific matchups, if Booker isn't working on the details it would be hard to trust he is ready to play the way the coaches believe will win a game.

Re: Of All People Fred Should Understand What Booker is Going Through

Funny I don't remember watching Fred on the bench looking like he doesnt give a ****, I don't remember Fred on the bench with an obvious bad attitude either. That is when the cameras are on him, I would only assume it multiplies in practice. Anyway if if he has a bad attitude then Fred is right about not playing him. I am not one of these posters who acts like they are watching practice everyday and we have way too many BBall geniuses in here. Pretty easy to act like you know everything from behind your keyboard with an annonymous name.

Re: Of All People Fred Should Understand What Booker is Going Through

Look I have no idea what goes on in practice either and probably should have stopped my original post after the first paragraph.

It just kills me that this whole issue is because of "Booker's Attitude". Isn't the goal of a coach to play his best players? It hurts us when Booker isn't getting mins. One would think that if Fred truly wanted his best players to play that there is some kind of communication and understanding that can happen between the 2 of them for the good of the team.

So, we're starting the Booker thread before the game again. Good to see that.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

Yes. Let show all the young guys on the team that you can have a **** attitude and still get playing time.

People are forgetting Booker has only played one good game this year. I realize Percy has not been good but Booker usually comes in and gets 2 quick aggression fouls.
