If we could send in another 6'7" forward that can shoot the 3 at ~40% that would be huge.

If we have room, I would take him. Fred obviously wanted him at some point since he offered him.
Niang's backup makes no sense to me from what I've seen from him.

To all who think he could provide depth in the paint are sorely mistaken. He is much more of a 2 than a 4 and even playing him at SF might be a stretch. He operates basically solely on the perimeter.

    Re: Possible Transfer

Kid is playing as a freshmen in arguably the strongest basketball conference in the country. He shoots 39% from the 3 point line and is 6-7. Averages about 15 minutes a game.

Aside from Niang, none of our freshmen are even sniffing that kind of playing time.

I would take him for the simple fact the kid has been getting significant playing time his freshmen year against some of the top teams in the country. So unless you got a bunch 4 and 5 star kids locked up for a 2014 scholly, right now 1 4 star commit, this would be a be good option.

His playing time as a freshman is nice for the sake of experience, but I wouldn't take his playing time as a sign of him being a particularly good freshman/player. Northwestern has lost a lot of players to injury this year, and so much of Kale's playing has been out of necessity.

ETA: Just looked up his profile on KenPom... it has his season pegged as similar to Babb's freshman year.

I'm open to the idea, we don't know who we will lose before then.

He could get some good PT after Vaughn leaves for the association.

I would much prefer a C transfer, but I don't think you tell this guy there's no room.

Is that opinion based on all of the times you've seen the 2014-15 Clones play?

    Re: Possible Transfer

If you have watched him play, he is not a guy that would back up Niang. Yes same height, but WAY different style of play. He has no strength to play down low. Would become a great shooter though. Very quick release. He is one of my good friends from High School and he can have potential to be an incredibly good shooting guard. His senior year high school stats don't do him justice since he played with Hok recruit Peter Jok. LOTS of potential.

That Babb guy turned out okay.. You cannot discount the experience he is getting, its like having a Northwestern act as a farm team honing his skills before calling him up.

    Re: Possible Transfer

So let me get this straight, he is an undersized big man that can shoot the 3 and is weak on defense. I'm sure he does want to come to ISU after watching us play. Sounds like a match made in heaven to me.

    Re: Possible Transfer

Personally I'm getting tired of always looking at transfers for the Cyclones. I think we need stability now. Good high school guys and sprinkle in an occasional junior college player when needed.

I agree...I'm tired of the player sitting out a year after the transfer, being hyped up like crazy and only playing one season as a Cyclone. I'd much rather have good hs players coming in and be around longer unless they go pro early

He would have three years though, I think we need to be done with one year players as well unless they are graduates and come here to play a year right away.

I don't know about you, but I don't classify the 2 as a big man.
