    Re: Struggling in the frontcourt...

This thread sucks. Niang is a top 20 freshman in the nation. He will learn and mature plenty. As far as the rest of our bigs, they aren't the greatest. Ejim is awesome. Percy and Booker are both below where we thought they would be. Is this a concern going forward? Somewhat. But we have showed we can play with nearly any team. We aren't built to be a defensive team. If that's what you want, check out the Big 10 or something.

We are a fast paced shot happy team. Does it come back to bite us? Yes, but with the team we have, it's the best recipe for success. Fred should get some solid bigs in a year or two recruiting. It will all even out

You have pretty much encapsulated my argument here... without true BIGs... and defensive BIGs at that... we will not be "in the show" this year. Hopefully, in years to come... but not this year unfortunately... apologies for the boring thread of course... but honestly, any thread I read presently is more than boring... my apologies for continuing the trend...

Niang is heady. His offensive moves--though they may not work every night--tell me so. He understands what's happening under the basket. He'll receive adequate coaching. That, and some heavy work in the weight room, is all he'll need to "latch on to" to become an all-conference player. Tune in next year to be proven wrong.

Wrong! I am not criticizing Niang's offensive skills... his Defense needs work! He is by no means a powerhouse when it comes to "manning up" on the Defensive side. He has the body, he just needs to use it! No doubt he has the offensive wherewithal to be a powerhouse, but he needs to show up defensively...plain and simple! Sure, let's give him some time, but I want to be better now! Why can we not have the "IT FACTOR" now? Ejim is the man! He has shown more than I ever imagined this year... the man has really shown up and then some! The man has matured and then some! But the front court stops after these two... Clyburn is a part-timer in the paint, but looks weak when it comes to manning up defensively... Where's the BEEF? Bring it back, baby! - Dick Vitale

Boring cannot get any worse than this post. Also you are not even close to being a deceptive troll. Was Einstein interested in basketball?

Lets change the subject, how about Percy making the all academic Big 12 team. This guy should be teachable, and learn to play interior defense consistently, and also understand you don't need to score, to help your team, you can pass, play defense, ect. Am I being interesting?

Agree with all of the above! As well... I only wish solid academics would translate to solid performances on the basketball court... of which we have yet to see from our dear Percy... No imagination (Percy) whatsoever... just plain fear.

6'7" freshman post needs defensive improvement. Shocking.
