Re: Don't like the final grade? Then sue.

Not a good precedent to set here. Opens up a huge can of worms for people pleading that school is discriminating against them because it treats smart hard-working individuals more favorably than lazy dumb ones

Re: Don't like the final grade? Then sue.

She may have a case. A lot depends on what she was doing in the class, but to give someone 0/25 for class participation when they attended every class and participated is risky on school's part. Sounds like the prof covered her tail by sending a warning letter.

That being said, this should have been dealt with immediately, within the school, and never had the chance to even get into the legal system... Also, I'm of the strong opinion that if she was going to be as outspoken as she was, she should have been earning an A to begin with, not a B+. On that account, depending on how everything else was graded (objective or subjective), she should be held accountable at least in part for her own failures...

Finally, the amount is obviously ridiculous. Nothing is preventing the girl from repeating the class and earning a better grade. Also, she could always get another masters. At most, she missed out on the difference in 1 year of salary, which would be negligible. Frankly, I don't think I'd be able to stand either the girl or the professor in question.

She probably slept with the Professor to get a better grade and it did not happen!!, Cue the song "Bad Professor" by Stephen Lynch.
