Why we will make the NCAA Tourney...(BTW the sky is not falling)

After seeing all that BS that was spread through the threads last night after the game, there were people saying I HATE THIS TEAM....really, wtf, what a moronic comment to make....

    Lets think back people....

Kansas Unanimous Choice To Win Big 12 Men's Basketball Title - Big 12 Conference - Official Athletic Site

    Currently 6th - Whats left:
    KU (8-3) - 4 home Texas, TCU, WVU, TT, 3 away @ OSU, ISU, Baylor - Record 5-2 (13-5)
    KSU (8-3) - 4 home Baylor, WVU, TT, TCU, 3 away @ Texas, Baylor, OSU - Record 5-2 (13-5)
OSU (8-3) - 4 home: OU, KU, Texas, KSU 3 away @ WVU, TCU, ISU Record 4-3 (12-6)
OU (7-4) - 3 home: Baylor, ISU, WVU 4 away @ OSU, TT, Texas, TCU Record 4-3 (11-7)
Baylor (7-4) - 3 home: ISU, KSU, KU, 4 away @ KSU, OU, WVU, Texas Record 3-4 (10-8)
ISU (6-5) - 4 home: TCU, TT, KU, OSU 3 away @ Baylor, OU, WVU Record 5-2 (11-7)

If this plays out - ISU would be 11-7 tied for 4th and would get the 4th seed with 2 wins over OU....

Remember, of our road losses (5 now) 3 of those would be expected by the majority of the ranked teams today at KU, KSU, OSU....

Lets face it folks - ITS HARD TO WIN ON THE ROAD IN ANY CONFERENCE....

Don't believe me ask Doug McDermott how that lowly team in Cedar Falls beat his tournament team!!!!
6th place in big ten is 5-6 in conference
6th place in acc is 5-6 in conference
6th place in big east is 7-4
6th place in sec is 6-5

Would we like to have wins against TT or Texas sure...but, this team has played very good basketball away from Ames and have just come up a bit short which leaves a bitter taste in everyones mouth....but seriously, they take care of business down the stretch they have the chance to beat a top 10 team in KU and ranked opponents in OSU both in our house...in my eyes, Baylor game is HUGE HUGE HUGE.....Both are bubble teams and that would be so sweet to shut that ***** S. Drew up!!!!!

    GO CLONES....

If we did get in, and that's a big maybe at a 12 seed at this point we'd end up playing a #1 - The sky isn't falling but we needed to win that game last night but we let it slip away.

I've said it on multiple threads. We just need to keep our RPI in the top 50 and then we'll be a lock.

What are you talking about? If a 12 seed you don't face a #1 seed until the sweet sixteen.

Sweet Sixteen isn't good enough. We definitely aren't going to the Tourney, but if we do, only the Final Four is good enough for this fan base. /s

I just don't see us winning any more road games. It's not for lack of effort, but not sure they're confident or mentally tough enough to win on the road the rest of the year. However, I think we win out at home.

I hate all the doomsday prophets on this board. The team has played all of these road games extremely tough, has had a chance to win at the end, and has fallen in heartbreaking fashion in each one. The team has been untouchable at home.

You people act like the team has played poorly. ******* idiots, the lot of you.

Put the coffee down! Coffee is for closers.

Unless round 1 is played at Hilton it isn't going to matter. This team doesn't close on the road.

ACTUALLY not true, in Round 1 of the tourney - NOBODY WILL BE PLAYING AT HOME.....maybe close to home but rarely on their home floor!

Officiating changes in the tourney....i mean really if you watched the OU team gutted slaughtered in Hilton and then turn around and beat up KU in Norman is all you need to know...

We go 3-1 at home and 2-1 on road to close - mark my words!

Re: Why we will make the NCAA Tourney...(BTW the sky is not falling)

    Some additional info

Assuming there are no 1 bid leagues that get 2 teamsthen it just comes down to numbers from the bigger conferences. Placing the conference winner as part of the 32, that leaves 36 bids..The number of teams fighting for those bids from each conference as of today

    ACC - 4
    A-10 - 3
    Big East -6
    B1G -6
    Big 12 -5
    Conf USA -1
    MWC -3
    Mo Valley -2
    Pac 12 -4
    SEC-4
    WCC -2

That is 40 teams fighting it out for the 36 bids..

    Some things to think about.

Kentucky lost arguably their best player how will they play down the stretch, they are part of the SEC number I mention but could fade. I included Alabama in the SEC but their Ken Pom sits at 73, and I suspect they are not good in RPI and others.

I included the likes of Indiana State from Mo Valley, Arizona State from the Pac 12 who has a Ken Pom of 83 and has to play at Colorado, at UCLA, and at Arizona.

I included BYU out of the WCC who probably needs to win their conference tourne, I included North Carolina from the ACC, (last night Duke fans were chanting NIT), I still think they get in, but have work to do.

Baylor in our own league as the following schedule ahead.
    @KSU, ISU, @Oklahoma, @WV, KSU, @Texas, KU,

I could see them going 2-5 in that stretch or 3-4.. That is one tough stretch of games for them, no more TT or TCU for them.

Of those 40, we probably sit 28-29 range. If ISU goes 4-3 last 7 then teams 30 to 40, and even those 40 to 50 still trying to get into the mix, would probably have to go 5-2, 6-1 to jump ISU..

That said there are probably 2 1 bid leagues that we should be watching.

If there is an upset in Ohio Valley or Sunbelt, those leagues could become 2 bid leagues. Belmont is going to get in from the Ohio Valley no matter what, so if they lose in their conference tourney a bubble will pop. Same goes for Middle Tenn. out of the Sunbelt.

I love it! Keep hope alive!

My Kool Aid is gone. I'll have fun watching, but I know this team will only go so far. They could get on a hot streak, but....
