    End of regulation

We're all ripping on Fred for not fouling at the end of regulation, and very deservedly so, but that was the 2nd time in that possession for Texas where Fred was outcoached BIG time.

Nobody seems to be mentioning the inbounds play from under their own basket where we allowed them to throw the ball all the way across halfcourt and call timeout immediately to set up their final game tying brilliantly designed 3 pt shot. That was HUGE.

Had they been forced to dribble the ball up the court on that final possession, we probably win. And then, on the next inbounds, we don't foul the guy who receives the pass in, and we let him pass it back out to a wide open 40% 3 pt European shooter. Unreal just how poorly we played those last 2 inbound plays.... not just the last one.

As many have said, this team does not deserve a tourney bid. We play terrible defense, can't win on the road, can't win close games, and have only one halfway decent win on the entire season. That doesn't cut it folks. This has been a VERY average season, and nothing more. It could have been more, but this team just doesn't have it in them for whatever reason. We play good in some spurts, but that's it. Not consistent enough and can't close out games.

I think I'm just settling in to the fact that we just really don't deserve the tourney. I'm not really even that upset about it anymore. If it were just one game that we've blown, I'd be ticked off, but it just keeps happening over and over again, which just means we aren't that good unfortunately.

I agree 100% Some here might not like that Fred is be criticized, but he plain got out-coached at many crucial times in this game.

    Re: End of regulation

If you want to let them advance the ball great. Do NOT on the inbounds pass have Clyburn stand with his back to the inbounder guarding against a potential pop out at the top of the key. If they catch it 28' away going away from the basket that's what you want.

And we still had people guarding Texas players INSIDE the 3 pt line for whatever reason? If we weren't going to foul, then why was anyone even guarding that guy that received the inbounds pass inside the arc before passing it back out for the 3? Texas had 3 guys beyond the arc. So cover those 3 guys with your 5 guys.

I cannot fathom why we didn't pick up that full court inbound. Neither could Christian Laettner

Hoiberg said on the Lockerroom Show that was supposed to be a foul in regulation but Ejim didn't get there in time to foul Holmes. Doesn't make it feel any better tho.

Then why on earth do you leave the inbounder free? Man everyone up and as soon as the ball is caught you foul.

Game shouldn't have been that close. Gave up soooo many easy layups. Gotta play on both ends of the court.

    Re: End of regulation

Texas executed that perfectly, in the end it was the same idea we used to beat OSU at home last year, where Scotty inbounded it to babb and then he gave it back to Scotty. Crappy luck that he made it from NBA range when he was 0-3 on the night though.

    Re: End of regulation

My biggest beef with Fred's coaching tonight was him calling timeouts after we made our free throws late. It allowed Texas to throw the ball to half court and burn their last one. More than likely, Texas would have used theirs to set up the inbounds play instead. Even if they didn't, Fred could have called out the code word to foul. (I'm assuming he has one).

Secondly, our inbounds play in 2OT with 10 secs left was terrible. Not sure if it was execution or what but that is not the first time our late game inbounds play was poor. Think we can still make the tournament but we must win out at home. @Baylor and @OU are going to be really tough to deal with at this point.
