Niang is a stud big man...FYI

It was a nice coincidence that we got to showcase an Olympic gold medal winner last night!

Wish Jake Varner had stopped to let him see the medal! Somebody needs to help make sure that these extra things happen.

Well Sage Rosenfels introduced himself, and they now follow each other on twitter... So there's that. Maybe Royce can give RV a call?

I'm not sure we want Royce to be our model of success until he actually plays an NBA game, or at least a D-league game

I agree to some extent. However to a kid from his hometown - who didn't have a great experience with Tubby, who did come to Ames and thrive, and is now in the NBA - where Vaughn wants to be...

    Re: RECRUITING: Rashad Vaughn Q&A

In addition to Rashad, there is of course Tyus Jones out of Apple Valley....who is likely headed elsewhere......but there is Reid Travis who ISU has offered in 2014, and then Jarvis Johnson who ISU has offered for 2015. Both Travis and Johnson play at DeLasalle. Of course Jarvis' sister Tyseanna is already committed to ISU WBB for next year. Would love to see Rashan, Reid, and Jarvis all sign with ISU. With everyone else that is coming in, ISU would be set for years to come.

I work with Reid Travis' uncle and was talking to him about Reid's recruitment on Friday. He has a top 5 and ISU ain't in it. I keep telling him to keep planting that ISU seed in Reid's head but I doubt it will do any good.

    Re: RECRUITING: Rashad Vaughn Q&A

Reading this thread makes me incredibly excited thinking of the possibilities that bringing in a guy like RV can do for ISU. Not only would he come in to an already talented group of players, thrive in our system, and be the star of the team to boot, but he'd also more than likely be the first domino to fall in a line of top ranked recruits coming here.
That all being said, it's in my Cyclone nature to not get my hopes too high, and for that reason I'm not going to expect a commitment from him.... yet. Prove me wrong RV! You could have yourself quite the legacy here!

Note: I know George, MT, Morris, and Custer are big time recruits. I just mean the first domino leading to other possible 4 and 5 star recruits after him.

I agree offensively, but I would like to see us add someone who would be more of a force inside defensively. Someone to alter shots and rebound more than anything. We are desperately missing that on this team and last years for that matter. Obviously getting someone like Noel is a stretch but something like Mbakwe would be nice. With the perimeter guys coming in, along with Niang, I don't know if we need a guy who can score on his own down there. How about a bigger Ejim? That's what I want.

On a side note, its really enjoyable and refreshing to see the optimism in the future of Cyclone basketball from our fanbase. (though it may be a little myopic).

After the McDoormat nearly ran the program into the ground, I was concerened we may never come back.
