    Defense

I have not seen seen a cyclone team that is as poor of defenders as these guys. We have a couple good individual defenders but we have to rely on our bigs so much when the guards get beat. Notice the bigs are the only ones ever in foul trouble? I understand we are a fast pace offense and going to give up points, but a couple of our guys get really lazy, get beat, and cause our bigs to get stupid fouls. For some reason we do not get hands up in the face of the shooter when they shoot. If we ever figure out how to become a good defensive team, we will be competing with Kansas year in and year out for Big XII titles.

There was nothing wrong with the D played today. OSU has a lot of tallent.

It was two McDonalds AA's that carried OSU offensively tonight.

    Re: Defense

Individual defense wasn't great but defensive rotation was awful at times. I couldn't tell if it was a bad scheme or simply bad execution. Either way it has to improve soon.

I though we had a very poor stretch when we started double teaming, particularly with George coming over, but overall i don't think it was that bad.

Luth is right. We had decent D at times but particularly in the 2nd half we started to not rotate properly and gave up LOTS of wide open dunks. Okie State has talent but it isn't too tough to make wide open backdoor cuts or dunk it when someone (cough Gibson cough) falls down and leaves someone WIDE open. I am not too concerned but it wasn't our most impressive defensive performance and wasted a pretty great shooting night....

Yep, this thread has just been pwned.

We don't have a shot blocking center. Heck when is the last true blocking center we had? Homan?

Watch KL, rarely ever does he get a hand up in the face of someone, I remember hearing someone say Pitino, when an assistant, took percentages to see how much a hand in the face impacts a shot and it was a pretty big impact.

That was a weakness of our D last year too if I remember correctly. It can make a huge difference IMO, and can lead to great overall defense as long as the defender stays low enough to move his feet.

    Re: Defense

our future is bright under freddy, but he coaches like a guy who never played for tim floyd or larry brown.

we may very well win a road game, but its not likely until our D improves. its been lacking all year.

we don't pressure the ball, mcgee fouls a 3pt shooter every game, niang wastes his fouls with his stupid arms in the air and foul the guy with your chest move, and our help D is so slow to rotate.

    i don't get it.

    Re: Defense

This team can't play D when they need it most. On the road, teams can almost score at will in the paint. It's going to be very hard for us to win more than 1 more road game with the kind of interior D we play.

    Re: Defense

    Serious question

I believe we have allowed three 4 point plays this year. Maybe 4.

Has that EVER happened AND have we ever had two FOR us in one season?

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

    Re: Defense

I wouldn't blame Tyrus fouling a three point shooter on Fred. Did you notice that he gathered a lot of pine slivers right after that one? He didn't see the floor again until the second half, I believe.
