Re: Recent Game Summaries for Hogue and Amardi

I was actually going to post something on these guys. I went to the Hills game on Wednesday to check them out. One game can not tell the whole story but I was pretty darn impressed by Amardi. Had a steal from and inbound then just an incredible spin move to finish it. Then he got two crap fouls early and barely played the 1st half. Came back in the 2nd and put up around 12-14 points. Impressive half of basketball. High motor.

Hogue - well, it's tough to really say much. Seemed like he could be a lockdown defender. Really has a high motor and looks like he really enjoys playing defense and being a ball hound. I can say with a pretty high level of certainty that we did not recruit him for his offense. Played pretty much the majority of the game and maybe ended with 4-6 points.

Re: Recent Game Summaries for Hogue and Amardi

You can find video on their games at INDIAN HILLS COMMUNITY COLLEGE-OTTUMWA Sports And Athletics News | iHigh.com - The Global Youth Network. I too am impressed with Amardi's athletic ability. He often plays the point on their full court zone press and plays the point on their half court trap. This is in part why he racks up so many fouls. It will be interesting to see how he plays when he is more of a traditional post.

Hogue reminds me of Melvin with his style of play. Just a really solid player that makes your team better when he is on the court.

Don't tell Nallen that, he doesn't think Armadi will get more then booker minutes. I think if Percy is the only guy to beat for time down low, he will get a lot of minutes.

Hogue has actually had some pretty nice offensive games but i agree that scoring will not be his primary benefit to the team.

Maybe we will have some interior defense next year.

Let's hope that improves. It will need to for us to compete considering we'll have a pretty inexperienced backcourt as well.

But post offense needs to improve as well. We just don't seem to have the ability to score much with the exception of 3's. When you get into an ugly game, you need the ability to score around the basket.

If you can't, then you end up just taking contested 3's and a game like Wednesday night gets away from you.

Had we had a legit post player that could score, we would have won an ugly one this week. But since Ejim and Niang were saddled with fouls, we turned into an even more one-dimensional team than we normally are.

I have heard that he will take Babb's place as the lock down guy next year, and he takes great pride in playing defense and rebounding. Quick ups and likes to be a garbage man.

If we beat Kansas State tomorrow me and my brother are going to see them play. If we lose we'll be too mad to go, lol.

Percy's game seems to have really fallen off since he lost his starting job to Niang. I don't think he handles coming off the bench very well. Hopefully next year he can earn a starting job and elevate his play. I think he has potential. Of course, having potential only gets you so far.
