Garcia just visited USF last week, he will have them fresh in his mind when he visits here to see how much more they suck in comparison.

Give me Bryant and Madison please. I really like Madison. I think he has natural quickness we haven't had here in a long time. I read his tweets too and it seems he is a mature kid.

I'm thinking Haymon is a Morgan replacement. That's just off his size/position/knowing where we need guys.

Or, how much warmer it is there in comparison...

Interesting theory--considering he's listed as almost the exact same size as the departed Durrell Givens.

Nice to get a decent collection of guys in this late, with a big game with K-State on tap.

Haymon is listed as a Freshman on his juco roster which would means that he has 3 seasons of eligibility. Lattimer, Frankilin, and Alex Alvarez were some other juco's that we got after their freshman year. Might be a good pick up this late in the game.

yep, obviously the staff is concerned about DE too.

Just because it's a spot they're recruiting for, doesn't mean that they are "concerned" about it.

If they were "concerned", I think you'd be seeing a trio of JC ends, rather than HS players. Seems to me that it's simply the next place on the roster to address.

Re: RECRUITING: Weekend (1-25-13) official visitors

Big thing with these DL-players is their height @ 6'4" to 6'5". The short passing game used so much depends upon timing & getting rid of the ball quickly. DL (whether inside or DE's outside) with height & length can bat down a lot more balls at the line of scrimmage. JJ Watt excels at this now in the NFL & has really shown how those types of plays can really change the game. Think this behind our strategy here.

I think it depends if the player can be in the 250 to 280 range & be quick enough for a DE. Otherwise, get in the 290-plus range, and move inside, which is how those from last year's class (Aka, Bevins, Meyers) seemed poised to do. But hey, if one gets to 290-300 lbs and can make due at DE, more power to them.

One could even say it's the next item of concern.

Another post pointed out earlier, Justin Madison received offer from U of Miami today. 247 shows his interest in ISU as warm & the U as 'warmer'
Let's hope Rhoads & Co can seal the deal

Do you think we have ever had a concern in recruiting a position? I can assure you we have.

Why would you think that I didn't? Tight end was decidedly one in this class. The staff addressed it well, but getting another young guy or two will also be a priority next class. Please, don't take my words out of context.

DE should always be a position we are looking at. Look at the Giants, they had enough but they still kept bringing in more and thats a big reason why they won Super Bowls. DL and pass rush masks the weaknesses of your defense. You can never have enough.
