Can't stop thinking about this story...from the minute I started reading it. Just thought I would post it here for others to read.

I hate opening an article with titles like that and seeing happy family photo...........you know a sad is coming :(

I am so sickened by drunk drivers. That ******* got caught how many ******* times and kept going. Repeat offenders should never be able to drive again. Put a damn chip in them that keeps them from starting a car. I don't give two ***** if it ruins their life forever. Too ******* bad.

    That is horrible.

Someone else I know posted on facebook of a member in their church who found that their 3-month old died of suffocation at their babysitter's house.

Nothing prepares a person for those things. Ouch.

How does he only get 30 months? Makes no sense when he took 80 or so years from a baby.

I try to be as "tough" as anyone but I just can't keep the tears from forming when I read through that article or think about it! 2 stories within one here: 1 - the strength of the basketball coach to keep going in life after such devastating events (losing mother that way and then son in a total different event). 2 - the drunk driving thing...hard not to hate that guy! How one does not act out in rage against that person is beyond me...and obviously stronger than me!

I feel like every car should have one of those breathalyzers in it. Just install the car with it and if the person blows over then the car won't start. We shouldn't wait until someone gets in trouble for driving drunk before installing them.

Every car? A little extreme I'd say.

Now if you're talking about repeat offenders having installed breathalyzer a, that I could get behind.

Only takes one time to drink and drive to end someone's life. I understand it sounds extreme, but if it can save a life why not?

Well for one, not having cars at all would save a lot of lives too. Even excluding drunk drivers, a lot of people die because of cars. There are a lot of things in this world that would save lives, no soda, no tobacco, no fast food, etc. It's always been a freedom thing with the US, no way it would ever get passed.

And secondly, because they are expensive as hell, the number of people actually driving drunk really doesn't make it viable. Why should I have to pay a couple extra thousand dollars to have this thing installed in my car because other people have no self control. You can't treat everyone as criminals if they haven't done anything wrong yet. And in the end, the criminals will find a way around the device leaving the only people using them are people that wouldn't drive drunk anyways. In the end, they aren't going to be able to monitor every device, so you'll only be keeping tabs on the convicted drunk drivers anyways.

I personally would like to see more change take place in the advertising and awareness aspect of the drunk dirving issue. Our country loves to focus on the "Click it or Ticket" or "buzz driving is drunk driving" or "Drive drunk and we'll catch you." It's all about "If you do it, you are going to get a ticket." when in the end, it should be all about, "If you do it, people are going to die" I'm tired of highway safety being more of a revenue generator than an actual attempt to make things safer.

Wow the Mother part was tough but to lose a child like that. Things like this should remind us all not to get worked up over losing a ballgame.
