Vandenberg receives offer from the Hawkeyes

Looks like JV received an offer from the Hawks Sunday.

It also looks like his team mate James Hurt may get one also.

Thats great for the Hawks but I really don't see how this affects us at all... I might be alittle slow, but this has no affect on us at all.

Its great too if they accept specially after the game and fans reaction from this weekend. I would think Iowa would be a tough sell right now unless it was your dream college.

Like M&M said...get a tape of the seniors getting booed after the game and Shada booed with Mom and Dad when he was introduced and show it to recruits that you are competing with EIU...you want to be a part of this program?

Need to be Tuff as Rain to play in Iowa City. Booed Mom and Dad bexause they are from Omaha? Poor shortsighted people. Adam was a running qb star in the high school championships. In high school at Millard North, he had as good a rep as Eric Crouch did at papillion LaVista. Why boo him in his last game since they might not bowl for dollars?

1st off - fans were booing the coaching and the poor play. ISU fans have done it this year, it happens all over the nation. Right or wrong, every school could do this.

2nd - students booed Shada. It was disgraceful. Terrible. No excusing it. They are not fans. I hope they never come to another game again.

That's all I got on the subject, I'm on the fence here. Either way, this was a poor outing, and the team/coaches deserved being booed, but is it really necessary?

The better QB in the state is Matt Barnd from Marion.

Southern I was at the game.... Do you boo the coach after an incomplete pass on 2nd down??? It was at the players most of the time. Yeah some for the coaches but alot at the players too... Don't spin this... Seriously... Where were you during the game?

2nd only the students booed Shada. Very classy. He walked by our tailgate an hour and a half after the game with some other players, he looked physically beat and he didn't play a snap.

I know we booed this year... But people were booing the players off the field. Whether it was for the coaches or not. Final time you will see these players this year and some forever. They played with injuries and through pain and they get booed. Very classy.....

You should never boo on senior day specially as the team leaves the field.

Wes, you may be thinking of Elveridge (sp?) at Papillion LaVista South. Crouch & Shada both were both QB's at Millard North along with Doxson (ISU), McGauglin (NU), McCradle (KSU), & Tarpinion (IA). The latest good one is JR Nick Failla who will have to come back from an ACL injury suffered in the playoffs.

Vandenberg actually looks very impressive on his videos. I know they're highlights but the kid absolutely has a gun.

I'm not spinning, nor arguing. I agree with you.

However, I was not able to attend the game (glad you did though! ;) ), but I do know a few people who attended. From the sounds of it, the booing was directed towards coaching, and keeping JC in the game. I don't know much more about the situation, so I'm not going to say any more.

I wouldn't have booed. It was senior day, and it was a poor choice. However, they lost to Western Michigan, and the coaches don't seem to want to change anything.

Hawk fans may have a reputation of having unrealistic expectations, but I don't think expecting a win over a 3-8 team from the MAC when a bowl game is on the line is a lofty expectation.

I'm just glad football is over. This season will take a while to recover from.

After watching both JV and JH play, I can say that both of these players are the kind of Iowa kids that ISU should be recruiting. Vandenberg's dad is a doctor and James is almost a straigh A student. JV has also set several state records for a QB. JH is an athlete that could play several positions and also has good grades. If these kind of kids can't get an ISU offer, then I have a hard time understanding what kind of student athlete we are looking for.

HOW MANY MORE QB's DO WE NEED????

    Match..... Set.... Point.....

Yeah great athletes, but obviously, maybe we should spread our scholarships out to players other then QB's.

    Anyone else??

I know we need LB, D-line, and O-line. Can they play any of those spots??

Get used to it. Three straight years of off the field baggage to go along with mediocre, on the field performance, as well as average at best recruiting classes, spells continued middle of the conference records. Iowa has now reverted back to their overall historic trend.

OK I understand the QB thing, but James Hurt could play either offense or defense.

He might be able to play and he might not... Right now I am willing to take the coaches opinion over our message board.

Someone was saying 40% of Iowa's team is composed of Iowa players... How many of them play and what is their record???? Interesting huh...
