3 Serena goes down to 24

    Time to retire...

First time losing to a younger American in her career.

Her opponent outplayed her today. Stephens pushed Serena around the court most of the match. I think that injuries are starting to catch up with Serena.

It's nice to see some young Americans look promising, now we just need to get some in the mens game. Big 4 look pretty hard to get past for the moment though

    She had back spasms, correct?

43-54 Record in CF Mafia. The most games played and wins by any player in Cyclone Fanatic History. Yes, I'm a nerd.

I was kidding on the retire. I didn't pay much attention to the post match interviews.

Re: 3 Serena goes down to 24

I was torn. Would like to see an American win a title, and Serena was the best shot at it, but happy to see some American women youngsters make some noise.

Ankle injury, and lower back issues, and she still played tough.

Just wish we had some young American boys that could step it up.

Yeah, but that didn't seem to be a problem in the final set. Stephens was just better. It looks like America could be dominate player in women's tennis for another decade. The only hope for the future on the men's side isn't that good yet (Harrison I think?)
