Jonathan Holmes (Texas) out with broken hand

    From the Dallas Morning News:

Texas forward Jonathan Holmes has broken right hand; no timetable for return | College Sports Blog

He had 15 points and 9 rebounds against us in Hilton...

Sucks for them, that's for sure. Might be tough to get above 8th or 9th in conference now.

Actually despise Texas with a passion. But have a lot of respect for Coach Barnes. I think he is a good coach, with a stroke of bad luck this season. Unfortunately, I think Coach Barnes might be roaming the sidelines for a different team next season.

Holy crap this season is getting worse and worse for them. Honestly, I feel a little bad for Barnes. The guy is a class act.

I remember a time we had a guy go down with an injury (nothing too serious), ref didn't see it right away and Barnes called a timeout so we could sub. Class move.

Yeah, don't get me wrong...I'll take the sweep of Texas this year if it works out (and another road win) but I feel bad for the players on that team.

Of course, they do get Kabongo back when we play them...so there is that.

Oh, the same coach who has taken Texas to 17 straight NCAA tournaments? I highly, highly doubt he will get fired. One bad year doesn't mean much. He's consistently underperformed with the talent level at Texas, but the majority of that school could care less about basketball and there happy if they just make the post season. He will be at Texas for as long as he wants.

As long as Dodds is there that may be true.

Although it is better for the league if Texas was a national power, I do not mind if Barnes does just enough (NCAA tournament team) to keep his job. Same with Ford at Ok St- just good enough to perpetually be on the hot-seat is ideal (not that it seems to hurt either's recruiting too much).

I agree with you on this. There is no way with all their resources and money that Texas shouldn't be a powerhouse in ALL sports. Mack Brown before and after Vince Young has done less with more then anyone in the country. Doesn't help that the last 2 heisman winners he tried to recruit as CB's instead of Qbs. OOoops... Barnes is about the same. He shouldn't have the problem of being the youngest team in the league unless everyone got drafted from the previous year. Which didn't happen.

Yes 17 years in the tourney is great and I would take that in a moment, but it reminds me of Iowa in the Tom Davis years. Have a really good team every few years but struggle to get past the first round the other years. The only thing is Tom Davis coached in a time when it wasn't about big money and the best facilities like today.
