Have to love this kids size and athleticism at the Corner spot. Made some nice plays and looks like an effective return man as well. Got away with a few PI calls in my opinion though.

Re: NEW Nigel Tribune highlight video

I took the opportunity in October to watch Nigel's Raines team play against state runner-up Bolles. Here is what I remember (grain-of-salt alert: I have never coached a football game that didn't involve a video game controller):

    - Very good straight-away speed (per my co-worker at Nigel's HS combine where he ran a 4.7 40, the field was a mess, causing slow 40 times for the players)
    - Speed decreases (relative to the competition) when coming out of a cut.

What I am trying to say here is that he covered fly, slant, flag, and skinny-post routes with relative ease; much faster than the Bolles receivers. However, on ins, outs, curls, what have you, he came out of the break slower (relative to his top speed) than the receiver (relative to their top speed). He was still faster, but his drop-off was more noticeable.

I believe eight passes were thrown his way.

    - The good news: zero completions
    - The bad news: flagged for PI twice

Raines did not use Nigel as a returner that night.

I also watched D.A. Williams this past season. He appeared a more polished football player. So, from that standpoint, I agree with Rivals rating D.A. ahead of Nigel. However, you never know what the next four to five years holds as far as development. Hopefully they both have bright futures with us.

Played a fair amount of bump & run/man to man coverage in the video. Looks like he plays the ball well too and does not mind getting physical with receivers. That sort of aggressiveness will lead to some PI's, but a lot can be taken care of with learning technique.

But in all seriousness, cool insight. Thank you.
