    Re: Lunardi - new bracketology

If we could get that 6 seed in KC that would be huge!! imo

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

    Re: Lunardi - new bracketology

Has us in a First Four play-in game against Larry Eustachy's CSU team.

If we win that we'd play VCU in Kansas City. Then likely Minnesota in KC as well.

Hell if we win that it would probably be Iowa State vs. Gonzaga down in Arlington, TX. Lots of chances for Cyclone fans to give ISU a home-court advantage. Continuing the magical run #11 seed Iowa State beats #1 seed Kansas in the Elite Eight.

(Yes I know this is all fake)

In all seriousness Lunardi has the Big 12 getting SIX teams in and has Iowa State as the lowest one.

    Kansas - 1
    Kansas State - 7
    Baylor - 8
    Oklahoma - 9
    Oklahoma State - 9
    Iowa State - 11 (play-in game)

Fake, yes, but it's fun to play out the scenarios.

That seems favorable to get the 11 play-in and playing Minnesota would be tough, but the Hilton South placement would help.

    Re: Lunardi - new bracketology

If we got that #11 seed, I don't think a Final Four run would shock anyone around here. Get passes VCU, Minny and the Zags then beat our old friend (who we know how to beat) Kansas.

That would be really unfair to Minnesota.

Not that I actually give a **** or anything. Cyclone Power!

As long as we're not an 8 or a 9 seed, I don't care what seed we are at.

Ill take anything to avoid having to play a 1 seed in the 3rd round if we were to win... It really ****ed us up last year when we were clicking on all cylinders...

How many first round play-ins go very far?

Looks like Lunardi wants us to play LE and Wes Eckmeier.

I know we're riding a one game winning streak, but I'm still not sure we're Final Four material, even with a few breaks.

Only two years of the 68-format to draw from, but South Florida (12) reached round of 32 in 2012. VCU (11) reached Final Four in 2011.

But that's only half of the at-large play-ins. The others were 2-and-out.
