Re: The effects of having Bubu back

I don't think Bubu is a Big 12 scholarship level player, but I'd rather have him running the point in KL's absence than Clyburn.

I'm tempering expectations regarding this season as he hasn't practiced with this group in so long, and might not be in shape. There's going to be some rust, and it could be a stretch that he'd be ready to play much this year.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

This is nonsense. We're 1-1 in conference play and have looked good doing so but let's not act like this is a well oiled machine.

Adding Bubu, who in all likelihood won't play significant minutes the remainder of the way is something that will throw off "amazing" chemistry

completely disagree. he has seen action in the big 12 and has done quite well. he will immediately be one of our better defenders and he tends to be smart with the ball. someone in the other bubu thread posted his assist to t.o. ratio and it was quite good. he has kind of a workman like way about his game. not flashy, but gets the job done and is not a t.o. or defensive liability.

couldn't be more excited about having him back. if he messes up the chemistry of our current players initially, fred probably just won't play him. it is simple as that. if he comes in and adds to our current flow, he will play and the team will benefit.

Bubu can help this team. I'd be willing to bet people only say he sucks because he was a walkon.

Damn you Janny. I was wanting to use that over used and outdated joke!

Mine was going to be, "I will be the one boo-urnsings him."

Fred looks at PG's that can also play the two. Monte has shown in high school that he can score the ball. Having two guys on the court that can push the ball up quickly would only be a benefit to the tempo we like to run. Monte will most likely be forced in to action with what we have coming back next year so it will be nice to allow Custer to have some time to be accustomed to college and Big 12 basketball as a freshman. Not all top 100 freshman are going to be Niang's and be able to compete at this level right away, but if they are, GREAT!

One of his pluses is the ability to get to the free throw line. Last year he shot about as many FT's per game as Chritopherson and Allen, even though he was playing less than half the minutes.

So if Monte is way better than Bubu (not an outlandish thought by any means) he should sit and defer to "experience"?

I'm glad Fred is the coach.
What if Monte needs time to adjust to D1?

So would we just move Long over to the 2 then? He has the better size compared to the others.

If you seriously boo the guy you have issues.. seriously.. i hope whoever boos him get accused of something they didnt do and then every time they go somewhere they get booed and see how it feels.. its pathetic hes a cyclone and an oustanding person.. some people make me sick...

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: The effects of having Bubu back

I played against Bubu twice growing up and while that definitely isn't enough to know him very well, he never gave off the impression of being a bad guy. A fiery and competitive attitude sure, but seemed pretty kind compared to plenty of other players. All in all we'll never know for sure, but if he's truly innocent, there's no reason he should become victim to disrespect from his own fanbase. I'm happy to welcome Bubu back to the team.

P.S. Saying Bubu isn't Big12 material really makes me question your logic given the fact he was offered a scholarship from Cincy in both B-Ball and Soccer out of high school. He doesn't scream starter by any means, but he is a good athlete and plays tough. I'm always up for a player willing to get after it on the defensive end and plays with intensity, and that is exactly what Bubu Palo brings.
