Chance for our first "Bad Loss" tomorrow?

No we don't play tomorrow, but Iowa does. If they fall to NW and go 0-4 in the Big 10 do we get our first bad loss? Iowa is very capable of losing to them.

Plus Cincy and UNLV have not exactly been making us look very good lately. And I guess KU isn't either (Beat Tech by only 16 and scored only 60).

Not going to think too much about this for the time being, though your point is valid. My hope is just that we keep our momentum going so that even with those three losses looking worse, the rest of our body of work looks impressive

It was on the road, Iowa's superbowl, and I think they end up with 4-7 Big Ten wins and a decent overall record. The Big Ten truly is stacked but you couldn't craft a much more beneficial schedule than they have. Would hurt their slim chances of a bid more than ISU's.

ISU has to avoid direct bad losses from this point. Losing any of the next 3 would be worse for the resume than having the loss to Iowa, even if Iowa goes 0-4. It's possible — but I have a feeling Iowa beats NW.

Hawks' 3 Big 10 losses so far are to 2 top 4 seeds on the road and a probable tournament team at home. No bad losses.

ISU plays WVa at home, @TCU, @Tech. I still think Huggins will finish higher than it appears, but that game is at home, ought to win. No excuse losing to TCU & TT this season.

Without Marble they lose again. Hopefully when he gets back they can pick up a quality win or two, they have struggled so far in big 10 play but the schedule has been brutal so far. Their schedule gets much easier from here on out, they'll finish better than they look right now.

Re: Chance for our first "Bad Loss" tomorrow?

It isn't impossible for Iowa to go 0-6 either. After this they play UW and tOSU. Just saying but this Iowa team is doing exactly what their football team did. Laying an egg in conference play.

ISU can beat WVU because much like UT, they can't score. Neither can TTU and TCU. Like you said we need those 3 but the most pivotal will be against KSU. It basically decides who gets to challenge KU for the title. Glad we get that at home.

They are in the midst of probably the hardest start to a conference schedule I have seen in a long time. Our loss to them isn't too bad if they somehow win something tough on the road say Minny or OSU. I can still see them winning 8-9 games after starting 0-4.

Re: Chance for our first "Bad Loss" tomorrow?

8-10 would be best case scenario, helps our RPI and they still don't make the tourney. For the record, they lost to two teams at home and one on the road. All tourney teams, but you have to beat some tourney teams to make it.

Re: Chance for our first "Bad Loss" tomorrow?

By the end of the season we will have played 32-33 games. Our NCAA tournament future will depend on the results of those games. By that time Iowa's record will have only a microscopic effect on our RPI and certainly won't be the controlling factor in our seeding.

Win out the rest of the games and no one will care who you lost to in the opening weeks ;)

regardless of whether it helps us or not, watching Iowa get slapped around in big 10 play is very enjoyable.

The backside of their schedule is extremely friendly. I see 9 to 10 wins for them in conference still. Even at 500 they still have a chance due to the strength of the big 10.

Even if the Iowa loss becomes a bad loss, one bad loss won't hurt if we finish top 4 in conference.

    Hard to argue with this.
