Loved to see them posting Will up against shorter guards. One more tool we have.

KL has realy come lately, its really nice to see Fred have a true PG. I think people had unrealistic expectations of KL, sure he played in a lot of games at Mich St but you have to remember that this is his first season as the full time starting PG. He only started at Mich St after injuries. He also sat out more than a year, iirc he basically missed his last year at Mich St and then a whole year in Ames. When you look at those things, its easy to see why he is just now coming into his own.

Will Clyburn has been hustling these last 2 games, getting back on D, driving the hoop, He looked REALLY explosive on that missed dunk attempt. The great thing about Will is that even though he is likely pushing to get to the NBA (doubt it), he really hasnt forced too much. He isnt a black hole and plays team ball. Percy on the other hand, has that kid ever passed it out from the low block? I'm being serious.

Percy passed it out today (once).
Someone pointed it out to me. I paused and my jaw dropped a little.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Agree, I think Will has shown he can score (or get his shots) when he wants but I think the last few games its sinking in that he doesn't have to do that for us to win. I only got to listen to the game today but at KU he made great decisions with the ball. In the non con I think that's why the offense didn't look like it had the same flow as last season when RW was creating a mismatch and making good passes. We didn't see much of that from Will early on but he's really starting to see just how good he (and ISU) can be when he gets other guys involved.

The real quesiton is, what the heck does Fred do to get his guys going after big 12 play starts. 2 seasons in a row now we've seen this team look like a completely different squad once the games started to really matter. I think Fred is still coming around as a gameday coach but its easy to see that he is already great at getting his guys prepared and focused. He has had to replace the majority of his rotation in each of this 3 season as a head coach. I think that is a big reason we've been underwhelming in the nonconference the last 2 years.

It appears this team has that next gear a lot of us were worried they wouldn't find. Should be a good run in conference, this is going to be fun. Lucious play lately has been fantastic.

Only after being stuffed twice in a row.

    Re: Korie Lucious

People are really settling into their roles and everyone is figuring out how to play together. Takes time and I would say this team is ahead of schedule actually. They made a lot of improvement between Christmas and the KU game.

KL is really a nice player. Quick, can shoot, can guard someone. If they can keep getting better this team can win a lot of games.

We are going to miss Korie next year. That's a ringing endorsement and a month ago I would have never uttered those words.

I'm hoping he'll get better with this with more minutes, since he's still a young player. Also, maybe Niang's passing ability from the low block will rub off on him a little bit

I was that guy and tip my cap to KL. His game has really settled down and he's a big factor in our success

    Re: Korie Lucious

I found KL to be turnover prone in his first few games as a Cyclone (most noticeable against Iowa), but he has done a complete 180 in my book in conference play so far. I agree with everyone that says this team will go as far as KL takes it, but I highly doubt we have anything to worry about. This team plays like they love being on the court; like they love being a Cyclone and it's an amazing thing to see! I can't wait for what lies ahead this season!

    Re: Korie Lucious

Will is playing better because KL is playing better. Clyburn might be the best player on this team, but we go as far as Korie takes us.

I am impressed by Clyburn's off-ball play. But you need a great PG to do what he is doing.
