    Korie Lucious

Thought this deserved its own thread. The transformation we have seen out of KL in the last 5 games is awesome. It seems like Fred finally got through to him after his rocky start to the year.

Iowa State will go as far as KL goes. He's going to have to play 35+ minutes almost in every game this year for us to be successful. This offense is not impressive when Clyburn has to run the point. KL is the best on team at getting into the lane and dishing. His assists today have been impressive, and there was back to back possessions with blown lay ups.

Good job Korie and keep it going!

    Re: Korie Lucious

I was just thinking this myself. People can be quick to bag on dudes when things aren't going well, but lets give Korie some props for playing some solid point lately. And it's pretty similar to CA last year too. Nobody was all that pleased with Allen in the first half the season, but he really found his niche and played well down the stretch.

Part of the change also comes from getting into games. Taking a year off is a challenge and getting right into big 12 play is tough. Give him a little tome and hopefully things work out.

    Re: Korie Lucious

He's been great. The best place for Clyburn to handle the ball is on the break where he can pass it out to an open shooter...a la to McGee a few times today.

Lucious has been impressive. I'll take 3-4 turnovers if you're getting 8 assists and 10+ points.

9 assists to 3 turnovers. That is all I will say.

For him, it was closer to two years off. I think people underestimate how much of a challenge it is for someone to just jump back into real meaningful games.

He has been huge for us lately. Glad to see him proving the haters that were on here earlier this year wrong.

Speaking of Clyburn... I thought he was very impressive today... I loved the dribble drive offense when he was running the offense today because he has the ability to look over the defense based on his height

Yup, had some good assists/almost assists too. Still a tad bit more careless than Lucious, but he seemed eager to pass the ball once across half court rather than give Texas a chance to hand check his high dribble.

Lots of good things are now happening. We look to be one of the better shooting teams in the B12 at this point.

Me, too. Clyburn is really settling into that role. He's greatly improved just this week.

I love Korie as our point guard. He's got a good thing going and excellent court vision. I am comfortable every time he brings it up.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

    Re: Korie Lucious

Like seeing Lucious focusing more on assists than taking over the game (and turning over the ball or taking wild shots). In the radio post-game interview, he was joking about guys missing dunks that would have given him the 10th and 11th assists. Also, I think it is interesting when he lines up in the corner, but still plays more like a point guard.

    Re: Korie Lucious

I love what Korie has brought to the table. When we isn't carelessly dribbling between the legs and such (often what his to's come from) he's an elite point in this league.

Also like how Clyburn has improved week by week. I thought he threw up too many three's against KU, and was glad to see Freddy pull him out after he launched one without running the offense while Texas was on a run. But he responded very well to that and played within the dribble drive offense.

We've had the pieces all season, now it's all starting to take shape.
